Radiator split

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

2011 ex35. Didn't even see a leak, but smelled antifreeze. Did a pressure test and it's just pissing out of passenger side right on the edge. It is right in front of upper hose, but i see no fluid on back side It's been 30 + years since I had radiator issues. Do they have a habit of just popping leaks? I suppose they don't get fixed; just replaced

mac, stress is the big factor - like if a previous owner had front collision (many pay cash, showing NOTHING on Carfax :spitout: ). Sometimes when working on engine compartment WE put heavy things "on top" that transfer pressure onto those damn plastic radiators. Oughta just get a replacement Lifetime Warranty one , since your NOT sure why it broke - You'll want to go back and get a FREE one in a year and 1/2 right? :lolling:
Tip - Get NEW radiator CAP too,in case too much pressure not relieved properly is a problem. :yesnod
You have one of those "mobile mechanics" do the labor :rotflmao ,put like an Autozone (one in myJ30 great for 6+ years now).

Shocked. I got car used but very clean. No work under hood. I guess sh#t happens; they're just good til they're not. Good idea to change cap

Clearly, i am very old. Last time i had to do radiator work, they were copper

If you do it yourself, make sure you take it to an AC shop to have the refrigerant evacuated and then refilled when you are done. You must remove the AC line to remove the radiator.
If you want a good laugh, search my posts a few years back when I learned this the hard way.

Our radiator fell apart like this at around 80K miles.

The radiator on ours just went at 89K. Right side leaking so it's getting replaced, along with t-stat.

Same thing happened to my 2010 EX35 this past summer. I'm going to post my experience and ask for some advice, but not as a reply to this one. Like others have mentioned here, mine also had a little over 90K miles and split on the passenger side. To "sherwooa" above - be careful of the thermostat!

Thanks for the rec. Swa your other thread - the dealer did the replacement (under an extended warranty) of the rad and t-stat and we haven't had any issues since. Sorry you had a bad time with it!
