Ok i have heard you can use the Ka radiator with the SR. My swap didnt include a sr radiator and i dont have 200 bucks to spend on a new one yet. As a temporary solution i would like to use the KA radiator, what do i have to do?

run a hose or a pipe from the engine to left side of the radiator. Though you might wanna just upgrade the radiator and be done with it.

You can use the ka with no probs. If you are going to get a FMIC then i would get the Aluminum one. I have see a few charts on copper v alum but those are at least 4-5 years old and i think koyo has changed their desing since then.

If you need a hose to go from KA Radiator -> SR engine, I have one. It has the two end hoses and the polished AL pipe that goes in between (looks clean). Heavy throttle sells it for 54 bucks + shipping (where I got it) but it comes with the lower hose. You can use the lower rad hose from the KA, so I'll give it up for 20 bucks shipped. I upgraded to a Koyo SR radiator. E-mail is [email protected]. It was only used for a couple days. Still in Great shape. Can also provide Pics.

Koyo's aluminum radiators have come a long way, but I have always heard that copper dissapates heat faster...but lets not get into that.

Copper has better heat transfer properties, but weighs CONSIDERABLY more and corrodes at a rate that is mind-blowing.

No he's not a psychic...that's the page you were thinking of bc its about the only site out there that directly compared 5 or 6 radiators and fan combo's with detailed tests and results.

Koyo changed their aluminum design to use less fins, which in turn works more effectively.

no i like it in here. but you need to do something about the internet service. to much ****ing lag.

you know, weight is not the only factor to take into consideration when buying parts. and the extra few pounds will make 0 difference. i hate it when these retards take 15lbs off of their car and think that they gain 50hp.

copper radiators can be rebuilt.copper is a better conductor than aluminumspend extra money on higher quality antifreeze and corrosion won't be a problem. don't buy the 99 cent stuff from walmart.

on another note, with the copper koyo,i recommend water wetter by redline and altima fans.

not sure what the spec on them is supposed to be, but in a bench test with the altima fans from the link i posted further up came back with these results:

through the aluminum koyo - 1040 ft/minthrough the stock SR radiator - 1430 ft/minthrough the copper and brass koyo - 1520 ft/min

go to autozone and get the rad hose part # xl-1023. it allows you to use the KA rad with an SR motor. You have to cut about 2.5 inches off it...but it is a molded hose and costs about $13. If you want the bling the just get the 2 90 degree elbows then put the aluminum piece in the middle.

Anybody that read this months Sport Compact Car will have the answer to the copper versus aluminum debate. Copper does have better heat transfer capabilities, and the weight increase is minimal. The reason Aluminum is better is because of superior manufacturing techniques.

"Advancements in aluminum extrusion techniques and computer designed fins result in radiators with more efficient heat dissipation properties. These properties are enhanced by the use of wider tubes, which translate into a substantial gain in surface area when compared to copper/brass tubing. This surface area advantage is the main reason aluminum rmakes for a better radiator in extreme conditions, despite being less thermally efficient compared to other metals"

Thank you SCC
