Recently purchased a month ago 1990 Nissan 300ZX 2+2 with just 94,000 kms. Great condition all stock. I'm a HVACR mechanic for over 28 years. I'd like to pass on my experience today that might help others.
So, thought I'd give the condenser coil for the a/c a wash and then looked at the radiator. There was 1" foam insulation tape used to seal gaps to make as much air go through rad as possible. Was falling apart so I removed it and started to look at rad how I was going to wash it. It was 80% clogged with debris and dirt. The foam gasket material was hiding the dirt on the coil. Used a 2 foot long wire flex brush with soft plastic bristles to get most of the dirt off then used a 4 gallon pump sprayer with 90° bend to enable spray straight on the coil from the fan side. Wash the dirt out the opposite direction it entered the rad. 2 hours later like new. Hopefully it hasn't damaged the engine and a/c from years of not being cleaned.
Hope this helps others who might not have noticed it yet.
