i wanted to know which one of you are running a V-mount setup with your intercoolers and radiators. i want to see how effective the air routing would be without the use of sheet metal cooling panels to route the air atop the radiator and intercooler as well as the front of the engine. signal autos Z33-Sr20 hybrid looks efficient, but i want to see other examples of v-mounted setups before attempting the setup myself. pics would be a plus!

There is little reason for a street car to run a V-mount setup, and the setup without proper ducting and under hood airflow is less efficient than the OEM mounting.

Also what happen's when you crash? did you consider that? race cars dont have to worry about bent radiator supports or cut bumper support s, but on a street car its a safety thing. you'll prolly gonna have to cuz or trim the radiaotr support to make a v-mount and thats compormising your safety. The only available bolt on V-mount set up is for a wrx made by Power Enterprises, if that helps, maybe you can get some ideas from that.

I could smash a radiator support with my fist. They are weak and there only to support the radiator and A/C components. Most of the time they are torn from the supporting members of the front end. When you go to a V mount you have to weld in your own support to mount the coolers anyways.

Agreed. Most V-Mount setups are built to say "Hay look wat we can do!" to show off to consumers or potential sponsors. The heat-soak from being in the engine bay and from the radiator below doesn't condone the most ideal air-air cooling scenario.

Concerning hiding an intercooler, I had thought if when I go front mount I should investigate what it would take to get an intercooler around 22x6x2.5" custom mounted laying flat in front of and almost below the radiator. I had fantasized about making simple ducting and undercarrage baffling to encourage a low pressure area under the car which would 'force' air through the intercooler after it entered the nose area. Having the intercooler lay flat would also let you rest dry ice directly on it for events, if you could get ice to stay there by means of a mesh grille 'fence' or something.

He asked a question based on insufficient personal knowledge. My posting was giving him a real world answer to his question.

Would you rather he go and spend the time, money, and effort only to run into overheating and other issues that could possibly cause engine failure because he does not quite understand the item in which he is seeking?

Learn to think beyond the diction, and further into the motive of his posting.
