So I was thinking, and out of no where I though about using a good quality radiator hose as my intercooler pipes, can it be done? I mean since factory turbo cars, use allot of rubber components (especially in bends) why can’t the whole thing be one long hose, no welding, the bends will be smooth and you only need to cut once and saving money.

radiator hoses are made to hold pressure so an elbow here and there would be ok but i dont know about the whole friggin piping!

It would work just fine, the Skyline GTS-t has a ton of rubber tubing for intercooler pipe from the factory. You'll have to source your hose from a truck shop. I jumped the counter at the local Autozone and there was nothing even close to big enough.

You can also use PVC and rad hose. Or just PVC....I've seen both done.

I got lots of 2.25 and 2.5" radiator hose from diesels off ebay, should work fine, some of it is reinforced silicone which looks identical to the intercooler hose I have, and some of it is rubber reinforced with some kind of cloth fiber so it should be super strong.in rubber I got 4 90 degree elbows and 2 45 degree for like.. 8 bucks.and then i got a piece with some more bends in silicone for another 8.

isnt the numer 1 upgrade on a elcipse a hard pipe conversion? id think the air would get hotter in rubber than alum.

is this temporary?

hotter?why?is it because steel conducts heat better? cause that would make it COOLER, not hotter. thats what an intercooler is for anyway.Everyone agrees that its ok to use silicone intercooler elbows...take a look at a big diesel radiator hose... same stuff. I'm not saying i'm plumbing my system with it, just that I'm using it for elbows and pieces that need a lil flex.
