Today we went ahead and replaced the A/C belt, which required removing and reinstalling the radiator. We're pretty sure we screwed up the "proper" way to refill the radiator, as we just filled the tank on the front left corner of the car to what seemed full, and then started the engine up and let it run for about 3-4 minutes with the radiator cap off.
Well, we took the car out for a short test drive and after about five minutes on the road the temperature gauge starting climbing up to about 80% of max. Then the upper hose on the top of the radiator slipped and started spewing. We patched that up, got home and made a correction, then started back out for another test.
Not long into the second test, the car started running at 80=90% temp again. We messed with trying to "burp/bleed" the air by running the car with the cap off and adding more coolant to the radiator directly, and nothing changed. So we got home and parked the car. That's where we stand now.
Any tips or help would be appreciated. We think it might be an air lock, as the car's heater isn't producing anything much more than ambient temperature. But how do we clear something like this?
