radiator fan replacement?

93 240sx here. I've just noticed fan hub near the blades on my stock fan(the one on fan clutch/water pump) are cracked pretty bad. How long will last? Has anyone had one fail, and what damaged did it do? The car has 180K mi. Where can I get one(new cheap), or has anyone repaired a cracked fan(safety wire or something). Don't have to much money to put into it.Thanks

If the fan blades are unbalanced, it WILL do damage to your radiator and possibly rip up your belts.

You can always pick up just the clutch fan itself, either from junkyard or new.

just get a new one they aren't expensive and it will be alot cheaper to replace it then fix any damage it causes from breaking, plus its a very easy fix just remove fan shroud brace the fan and remove 4 bolts. While your at it test the clutch make sure its not to loose or to tight.

OR!....you can go a different route and free up some poneys...electric fans!...fan clutches and fans in general powerd by belt off the motor are power robbing...the amount of drag on the motor is actually measurable in horsepower...one of the cheepest and largest bang for your buck when pinching horsepower out of a car is to replace the fan with free running electric fans...this is a proven race mod that should net you "depending on mods you may all ready have" anywhere from 5 to 8 hp...may not sound like much...but 5 to 8 hp for under 100 bucks is finominal!....if you couple this mod with some bolt on's you can really unlock a motors potential....

4 basic proven mods for you are..

#1. intake tube "cai" injen whatever#2. elctric fan#3. header and full exaust system#4. ecu tune

those are basic mods that are easy to install...the fans would be an easy start..good luck

electric fans are cool. little bit of moneys to buy them, you can always go to the junk yard and get some altima or maxima stock electric fans.
