So I have a second issue.

The radiator fan assembly is always on the second I turn on my car and it is always on at full blast. The service manual speaks of a failsafe mode which makes the fan go on HIGH all the time. I repaired this car from a front end collision so I am using an aftermarket radiator fan.

I took it into a shop and they plugged up some computers and tried to set the fan to off and it would not respond. Could their computers not be working.

The manual says you can use Consult II and reset the speeds for various temps for the fan assembly.

Only other thing is that the Fan assembly control unit is crappy and stays on high all the time. I am sure I could drive it like this until the fan assembly dies from over use but the noise is irritating. Any ideas or anyone heard of reseting this. I am thinking maybe Infiniti needs to look at it and use their Consult II to fix it... Thanks for the help.

Don't you have another thread about rebuilding an M?

If I had to take a shot in the dark I would suspect the module attached to the fan assembly, if not the IPDM.

Are the fans on high the only problem?

Yes, I have other threads but not related to the fan assembly. I wanted to get specific answers back.

I was thinking the module as well (unfortunately, means I have to pull the thing out and send it back).

What is the IPDM? Is that the relay? We tried to use two different relays and that didn't make any difference.

I have my old module so I am going to try and figure out how to attach it to the new assembly (the old one was cracked in a few places). I might even take the fans out of the old one b/c the new one has only one plug in, the other is hidden inside the module.

Mine did this, the local Nissan dealer diagnosed it as a faulty fan shroud resistor.

I had the same problem and swapped out the fan control module...

There is a TSB for these modules failing, but our M's might be a little old to claim against it.

Swapping it out is about as easy as it gets. Take out 2 screws, unplug and re-plug.
