I'm brand new to the forum, and to the Pathfinder. This Monday, I just picked up a black on black 2002 LE with 61k miles that is in really nice shape.

As I was getting it all set up, I found out the power outlet / cig lighter fuse is blown. No big deal, right?

BUT, as I opened up the fuse box, I notice a big 'ol gap where according to the fuse box cover, there should be a "FL40A RAD FAN" fuse.

Do I need to be concerned this is missing?

I also notice I don't have the cruise control fuse (it does have cruise) and I don't have the HID fuses (no HID).

I would really be greatful if anyone can shed some light on whether or not I should be concerned.

1 Question:

What doesn't work when you try to use it?

Right now the only thing that I know is not working is the power outlets.

However, as I was driving this morning, I noticed that the engine fan did not come on. Now, that may be normal, given it wasn't above 60 degrees, but I'm not sure.

It has the prong for a fuse. I'll probably just hit Autozone and get the fuse to be safe. It's just weird though - Why would someone remove that?

I am pretty sure you do not have an electric fan. Check to see if there is a belt going over fan pully. That fuse box is probably used on many nissan models(some with electric fan).

Good call - There is a pully, and the engine temp is staying well within check. I think the "mystery" has been solved.

Thanks for your help.

Yeah, As I understand it, pathy's have a belt driven fan with a clutch. It should only engage when it goes above a certain temp.

The shortcoming I discovered last weekend is that when stuck idling in very hot weather for long periods of time, you have to rev the engine to help the fan blow harder to draw more air across the radiator.

I'm thinking of going for an electric fan at some point, but that'll be in the future.

Too bad it's not pacers anymore. I think it's a hustler club.

My wife wouldn't be too happy about the strippers though
