Looks like a blown HG caused this problem to me. Excess heat and pressure in the cooling system. What color is the coolant?

HG=Headgasket. Also check your oil and make sure coolant is not mixed with it.

Yeah, check the oil as well. Oil get reall milky when coolant is in it. You could just have a old rad that failed...

Radiators are one of thoise things I wouldnt try to repair. Maybe it can be, but even if you have to get an old one, better than jimmy rigging that one.....

get something bigger, like a koyo or some****. You probly jsut ran it too hot for the radiator to cool. Also make sure that the thermostat is in working order and opening ;)

i'd almost bet that's from driving a combination of an old radiator on a broken thermostat for too long

you could in theory replace it. the end tank has a gasket on it that helps hold the coolant in, but i think you need a special tool to attach the end tank

I'm flirting with the idea of a 260z radiator as a replacement, it's MUCH thicker and at 130 bucks a relative steal, also I think it's close to the same dimensions as the stock 240 radiator.

one of the first things recommended is to get a bigger radiator or one ut of a 180 sx. if you wanna keep ur engine around longer i would recommend replacing the radiator. hope its not a HG cause thats a world of hurt to fix and so time consuming.

Sr's are known for running hot, i've got good compression numbers, no oil in coolant or vice versa BUT i have burst a rad hose twice and put a hole in my old radiator.

the excess pressure can also be caused by a trapped airbubble.

well im kinda low on $$ but if i have to ill go with a new radiator. But my friend can get me a new OEM radiator for $150, i know the new one is bigger and looks a lot better but cant i just use the oem one? if not than im going koyo.

o and btw how do you know if its a blown HG?

if your oil and coolant both look normal, and you aren't getting smoke out of the exhaust the headgasket should be fine. I would seriously recomend the koyo. I imagine evenutally its an upgrade you will want, so whats the point in wasting 150 on an oem now?

yeah i guess so, I read on the 240faq that a radiator from the supra MKIII turbo would work, my friends dad works at toyota and said he can get it for me for $150. would this just as good as an aftermarket radiator?
