You know those things the cops lay across the ground and if you're speeding when you run over it, it'll take a picture? Should I be worried about those? The laid them all over the place today. I hit about 6 of them..wasn't speeding much on them except one I was doing about 55 in a 35. Just wondering... :0

they have things like that in front of traffic lights so when u pull up to a red light in the middle of the night it'll change because it knows no cars are goin on the green light and you're waiting

k-car's right. They're used to count the number of vehicles that travel on the roads at that certain point....usually in order to determine whether the state should widen the road or leave it be. I've never heard of the type you're talking about but if you're right, they could cause a problem for drivers in iowa where 89% of the drivers speed.

I'll go ahead and bend over and let you all kick me then:bshake. I didn't think anything about it, and then I thought "maybe they're checking for speeders". Then about the 3rd one I saw like a camera lookin thing, and then another on the 4th one. They are about to put a new highway through here, so maybe that's something to do with the highway..but not gonna touch some of the roads these were on. BAH..

That was the first thought that popped into my head...but eh, you never know until someone tells you. :D Good to know though, I really don't need a speeding ticket(trying to keep a clean slate :P). Since I'm only 17, if I get a ticket going 25mph over the speed limit they'll pull my license for 6 months. :icesangel

Ack, sorry to hear that. I normally only do 5 or so over, but some places my foot gets heavy. There are NEVER cops on the highway going into Alabama though..so it gets heavier there..and then the highway going into Cartersville / Adairsville..you'll see a few every now and then. I've been dumb though..just wanted to see how fast my 110hp Pontiac Sunbird would go..I got to 99mph lmao.

yea i understand.i was pretty stupid once, decided to try to find the top end. i got to about 115 or so before i decided it would be good to slow down.oh yea, it was down a back road and nobody around so if i messed up i wouldve hurt only me, and i would have pretty bad!stupid thing for me to do, but i tried it and im not anymore unless im at a track.cant risk my license again.

Well I had about 5 lanes to myself almost. The highway was pretty empty..still dumb none the less. If I got a speeding ticket..going anywhere near that fast my grandad would turn his foot sideways and shove it up my ***. I passed themon that same highway and didn'trealize it..they were doing the speedlimit..had a new bigscreen in the truck..passed about 5 cars..he didn't like that too much either.

I thought if there where 2 chords, that tested speed... you know... before and after... although maybe that's for two way traffic.... I'm not sure now. I could see how they could easially be used to check speeds though... although i think they'd have to be pretty far apart- sorta like those old school VASCAR systems (check it out here: http://www.radartest.com/BFTPVR.html)

so yeah, I donno. I wouldnt worry about it though- its prob not for speed.

THere are some places that are setup to take your picture if you blow through a redlight. Me and a friend had gone down to visit a friend in tuscolusa and were sitting at a red light in the straight lane and decided to go right. When we went right since we weren't in the right turn lane the computer thought we were running the light and took a picture of our car. I wasn't aware we had **** like that here and it ****ed us up for a few seconds. The flash seem bright as lightning
