RADAR INSTALL

Well, I’ve been searching for the past two days on how to install my radar detector in my 06 M45. I can’t find a post anywhere. I’m wondering where to tap in, to get your power source? Is it the fuse box, and where is it, or do I tap into the overhead interior lights?

This is an option: zerothread/309907 that people seem to like.

We also have the M Service Manuals at our site for info on electrical stuff so you could find a good spot to tap into ... link is in my sig.

I just installed mine using the overhead interior lights. Don't disconnect the air bag wires (yellow and black) or you will have to reset the air bag sensor - doable, but a pain.

Mine is an 07 and has the overhead lights - I tapped into the hot side of one and the black lead from the radar detector went to ground of course.

Works great - overhead console popped out easily, and went back in nice and neat.

Might look at these guys, but I would prefer to come off the fuse block and not lose my mute function.

this is best solution, taps perfectly into my M45 mirror. I have it postioned to the left of the mirror, cant see any wires
