Hello, All- I need to find out some particulars on radar detectors.. 1. Which is the best in your opinion? 2. How does Cobra & Whistler compare to Valentine 1? 3. What detector do you have & where did you get it? 4. What did you pay or what would you pay for a radar detector. Sorry about all the questions, this comes on the heels of my first speeding ticket in my Coupe, it only took 2300 miles, go figure! Thanks in advance! -Joe

I have a Valentine 1 "Radar Locator" model # 20015. I've had this baby for a year now and it's saved my *** countless times. It detects both radar and laser and has great range to boot. It once alerted me from nearly a quarter a mile away. I was doing 90mph on a 65 stretch and slowed down in a hurry. I haven't used any other models because I'm more than satisfied with the Valentine 1. Price tag is pretty steep as I bought mine for $350 but if you're a highway demon, it's a worthy investment.

If I were buying, I'd buy the new Escort. Less $$$, but in some tests it outperforms the V1. No directional arrows, but to me that's a gimmick...

My scanner and a good set of eyes has always been my best defense against speeding tickets.

Valentine 1 has saved me a bunch of times. Recommended it highly, particularly with the remote display. I have had some Escort models in the past, but the Valentine 1 - just got an upgrade (it is smaller!) - is the way to go!

On my original purchase, I paid list at the Valentine 1 web site. Upgrade was cheaper - they send out a new, latest model for a small fee and your old one.
