Ok, I have FAL dual electric radiator fans that stopped running a few days back. Since then I've been running down a few possible problems. I should mentioned that they're hotwired to run 24/7 when I bought the car(beneficial because I live in Texas, moving to Arizona).

First off I replaced that 30amp fuse labeled "RAD FAN" and still the fans don't come on. I re-wired another electric fan into there, and it didn't turn that one on either. I'm going to try one more time tomorrow with another fan and see what happens.

Now I've turned my attetion to these 2 relays in the fuse box in the engine bay that are labeled "RAD FAN HI" and "RAD FAN LO" by the fuse box cover. Anybody else think that might be it? Whats worse is that I'm having a tough time trying to get them out, and I'm not trying to rip em out and mess something up.

If thats not it, the last thing to do is further trace the wiring, which btw is green for the positive lead, and ofcourse negative for the ground.

Thanks guys.

I'm not familiar with the S14, but it seems like the first thing you need to do is identify if the fans are still serviceable. Wiring them directly to your battery and see if they turn.

Are those relays that you talk about for the AC fan??? You can't control the radiator fan with those.....

Well they were hotwired a different way so that as soon as I turn on the accessories (radio, fuel pump, safc, etc.) the fans would run too. I'll try what you said and see what happens.

You have wired your fans in the most incorrect way possible.

The correct way would be to wire up a "puller" for your radiator, attached directly to the rear of the radiator, and a "pusher", which would be the two-speed OEM fan you removed from the the inside of the radiator shroud. This fan will have to have it's polarity reversed so it spins the opposite direction. There are aftermarket fans available that can be used in place of the OEM unit as well.

The fans were wired like that when I bought the car and they worked just fine before they completely stopped turning. Hadn't changed anything with it until they stopped turning.

I have a 95 as well what I did and a lot of guys don't know this the wires are alreadt there. I used the wires from the stock electric fan the one that was in front of the radiator. One is blue, yellow and two are black there is a plug right next to the a/c dryer. The blue and black go to one fan and the yellow and black to the other. The relays you spoke of control these wires and when the coolant gets a certain temp the fans turn on just like stock. I have the same setup and never had any problems. Check the power @ the relays to make sure there geting voltage also make sure the fans are blowing air across the motor.

Good info, thanks. On a side note, how do you remove the relays? I've picked at it few times and just moved on to other repairs.

Still haven't figured this one out. Here's picture of how its set up.

As you can see, the positive red wire from the fans is spliced into the green wire coming out of the connector. The connections are pretty solid, but I'm not getting any power to the fans. Not sure where else to look now.

Buy an el cheapo multimeter, at leas it will be give you an idea of where you are missing your voltages.

Will do, believe I have one laying around in the garage somewhere.

So say I don't get any voltage from the wires itself before the splices, where should I look next.

I appreciate the help guys and sorry for sounding like a noob, truth is this is the first time I've really dealt this kind of shortage problem. But hey, gotta learn sooner or later right?

Nope, just a lone green wire. The fans are grounded directly to the battery.

that's what's wrong the two relays have to be wired to one fan each hi and low I will send you a diagram to your email address

Awesome, appreciate the help, I'll see what I can do about it.

Edit: After reading the diagrams I'm still pretty effin confused. I've read around other places and heard things about the positive wire being spliced into the fuel pump relay switch and etc. I want my fans to run when the key is turned on, not when the engine is running hot enough to turn them on high. Currently I'm trying to trace down where that lone green wire shown in the picture runs to. Basically I just need to know exactly which wire to splice it into, and if soldering in a fuse is necessary.

Ob1 and amalao, thanks for being patient with me.

Well the only advice I can give you is to take it to a shop that does electical installs along with diagrams I emailed you. this is very simple to do but without electrical knowlege it can be hard. I would not wire them to be on all the time but that's your preference I have mine wired where the ecu controls the fans just like it was design to you cannot run two fans off of one relay too much curent to do that that's why it stoped working just take it to a shop and have it done I wish you live in cali I would do it for you good luck.
