We just gave up our MDX that was able to carrier our Malibu 2 XL Ocean Kayaks with Thule crossbars and Kayak Saddle Carriers. We bought a new JX35, love it (however, wish it was wider as we can not put in our 10x10 shade tent in horizontally), but we can not find a safe solution to carrier our kayaks. The only thing that we'vefound (except for buying a $1000 trailer, which won't work in some places we travel to), is to purchase Yakima Q Tower clamps, which has a maximum allowance of 100 pounds. Our 2 kayaks alone are 120.

We have factory installed roof racks and cross bars (which do not move, and are both useless!), and because the roof rack doesn't have an open space underneath to install our Thule crossbars, this is the only solution we can come up with.

Any suggestions would be HIGHLY appreciated!
