rack and pinion

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

If you're talking about a small block chevy into a 240sx you can:

1. disable the power steering by looping the fluid line or modifying the rack2. have custom power steering lines made and use the V8 power steering pump or use a 91-95 Toyota electric power steering pump

Yes you have lines made to fit the Nissan rack on one end, and the Chevy pump on the other end.

now that i read your post again I am guessing you mean that the oil pan sits 1/2 in behind the rack and no room for the hard lines. even with pushing my motor back about 4-5 inches I had to make a small dimple in the face of the sump. lower my crossmember then sit the engine on the mounts which are welded to frame rails, then raise the crossmember into place under the engine.

definately will need a modified pan .

You just dont want to run the rack dry, but I don't see the point as well. Your swappping a lot into the car, just have some lines made. (A local performace shop that custom makes -AN lines, sells fittings, etc can help you. Daft innovations is good, maybe if you send Rich the pump he can make you lines).

Any how if you want to run manual without buying a manual rack. Take the pressure and rurn line and make them the same length. Fill both sides with ATF fluid right down the lines. Leave a little room at the top of the lines for air and fluid movement (likefill the lines like 2 inchs for the top). Cap lines off and done.
