Rack and Pinion Question

So im pricing around for a rack. The guy at the local parts store asks if the car has "EVO"? What is this, and does my car have this? 1991 Q45

I've never heard the term before, but I wonder if the VO portion stands for variable output or something along those lines. The Q does have speed sensitive variable assist steering.

I'd ask him what it means... there are so many terms in the car business that refer to the same (or nearly the same) thing. Lifter=HLA Hydraulic Lash Adjustors =Tappets / Rocker Cover=Valve Cover / Plenum = Intake Manifold... etc.

Wasn't there a ratio difference from '91 - '94 ??

There was... and it was 92-94 I thought.....

But whatever the case is, its not that noticeable.. If my rack had the tension thingy setup and torqued right, you probably wouldnt notice much difference.. I prefer the 90-93 rack, since thats what I have in my Q, but I liked hte lighter steering at highway speeds... One finger steering..

So no one knows what this could possibly be? Could they be refering to a feature on the rack itself, or the car?

He was probably asking if it has "Electronic Variable Output (EVO)", and he was probably refering to the Power steering pump.

Anyway, don't be embarassed to just ask the guy what he means by "EVO". <-- I don't mean this as an insult.

Any how today i called the dealer and they said they have never heard of EVO. He said the only thing that would be related to the rack would be All Wheel Steering, an a new rack from them would be $1,700

I also went to the parts store again, and they looked it up in a book and they said it was also All Wheel Steering. What do y'all think?
