I have a 93 240sx with megan coilovers the rest of the suspension is stock for now. I thought my outer tie rod ends were bad, but after inspection the play in the steering is on the inner rack side. My question is do I replace the whole tie rods or do I need to replace the rack and pinion? It does not seem to leak fluid. Also the steering wheel does not return to center after making a turn. After making a left turn the wheel is off to the left and the same when I turn right.Kinda of new guy looking for some help/info. Thanks in advanced.

you have enough fluid in your ps resevoir with it hanging on turns like that? if the rack is not consistent in resistance while turning it left or right, the rack needs to be replaced .

No the steering feels smooth and free when turning. Same pressure to turn wheel from lock to lock.Fluid is full in resov. and does not leak.

well, then just replace your inner tie rod ends as for the steering not returning to the middle, perhaps an alignment issue?

I am planning on replacing the bushings in the rack & pinion. Could I be able do this myself or should I take it to my machanic? Are there any write ups?

Thanks
