ok I have a 1990 240sx and here is my morning:1)wake up to put snow tires on -thinking of what a day it might be2)start car start trying to turn around and hear a loud noise sounds like power steering pump? son of a biotch god damn f-ing why even bother3)turn off car (kursing) and check power steering fluid not on the stick wtf. I pull out the little filter thing and guess what it is foamy. -this cant be good, a great start to another day4)go to get some atf to fill it up wondering why it is low - look on drive way and see about a 3 inch circle of fluid mother *****er5)drive car so i can jack it up to see what is wrong with the damn thing 6) see that fluid is on both sides of the rack and pinion boots -this is gonna be rediculasly expensive7)pull of the boot on the dirver's side fluild comes pouring out -cars suck in my book damn things are expensive 8)call nissan to see what is wrong with it i was not sure at the time "you are going to need a new rack and pinion" nissan guy"$hit that is not good" me"not really" nissan guy"what is this gonna cost me" me"are you sitting down? "nissan guy"ya" me"1100" nissan guy"holy mother of god are you kidding me" me"nope" nissan guy" ok well thanks talk to you later rather than sooner" me"bye" nisssan guy9) what the hell i am gonna do i dont have a job got money but not that much -****ty cars10) call some other place 500 bucks

ok now here is the kicker i had a parts car and i just got rid of it on monday with guess what on it the rack and pinion that was the only thing i had left on it of course.

so now here is my question what should i do 1)buy the one for 5002) i think i can get it rebuilt for about 3503)manual steering4) anyone one got one for sale i have cash now

I would say that manual steering is not that bad. That is what I would do.

I am not too familiar with that, but I would run it manually until I could find a steal on a new PS pump.

Man I need a new rack and pinion too... I looked around and the parts (even wholesale) aren't cheap. Just run around until you can afford it at wholesale. I'd check here too : http://car-part.com/ or http://www.nissan-auto-parts-dealer.com/ Good luck. When it rains it pours...

ya no ish i got laid off like two weeks ago and now this the ****ing car i just bought brand new snow tires for it must not want to got in the snow

What year are you guys talking about. I have a running and driving 240 and one with a blown motor. Everything else is good on it though. i am unsure of what pice you need. I never looked at the rack. Could sell. 89-94 chassis
