Telco man has a racist avatar, I’m offended by it. It needs to be taken down.
This is my last post unless it’s taken down.

Hmmmm.

While I can't stand Howie (or anything he stands for), I've gotta play devil's advocate and mention that "Jap" might be offensive as well.

Could have done without that last line - if you know anything at all about this community, you'd know I don't respond to threats, only logic and reason.

Also seems odd that it's being brought up now, after 10 months of being here. ;)

I agree with AZHitman. Telco's political rantings can certainly offend, especially those on the opposite side of his political spectrum. I also agree he deserves occasional reprimands but overall he usually stays within norms. I've seen you argue with him in the political sub forum, and neither of you like to back down. I think your issues with him go beyond an old Howard Stern avatar. People seem to have become far less tolerant of opposing viewpoints when it comes to politics. And it's shocks me how severe it's become. And that applies to both sides of the aisle. Howie has been a long time Stern fan, and he has been using that avatar for years now. I believe you are the very first here ever to take any issue with it.

As far the avatar itself. I presume you're not familiar with the fist symbol's real history or Howard Stern. Both are interesting stories worth learning more about. Bottom line is if you want to make Telco's avatar an issue, instead of trying to "cancel" him and his love for a bawdy radio talk show host that one must pay to even hear, by making threats, why not instead create a thread in the political forum about it and discuss it rationally? Isn't that how politics is supposed to work? And if you do have a discussion about it, you might even learn (gasp) that the Stern ad has nothing to do with racism. Crazy things like better understanding can happen when people have honest discussions and listen to each other instead of posturing. Hope that helps.

Regards.

For reals. "Jap" is waaay more offensive. And as usual, a concise and well-worded reply from Bubba1.

Adios, Felicia.

I've got no patience, tolerance, or respect for race-baiting drama queens or ultimatums.

As soon as I read the first post and determined it wasn't satire, I knew what the outcome would be even before seeing any of the other posts :rotfl

My dad used to say, "Nature created pain so we remember not to repeat the stupid s@#% we did yesterday." For the most part he was right, but never forget that some people like butthurt. Then you're wrestling in the mud with a pig, and the pig likes it. ;)

Bingo. Easier just to take the Herb Kelleher approach, for those that know the story.
