I'm contemplating getting a Racingline y-pipe. I know that it deletes a catalytic converter and it is sold for off-road use.

I live in Cali, and from what I remember researching this part, it is not carb legal. Do any CA residents have a y-pipe on their A/C? For those of you who have it, did you ever have problems passing a smog test or a "visual inspection" ?

I also have the Borla axle back exhaust. Will it fit a racingline y-pipe or do I need some extra parts?

Thank you!

It is not CARB legal so it is illegal in CA. your car shouldn't pass smog with it on either... BUT isn't it like 6 bolts? lift the car and take it off when ever the car needs to be smoged. I live in CA and I would buy it if I had money.... as for it bolting up to the Borla exhaust, you wont have any issues. since it's an axel-back, the part of the exhaust that connects to the Y-pipe is still stock. Cat-back is the one that could be difficult, but even then, it would have to be something done at a shop where they cut off the flange that connects the Y-pipe to the cat-back and even then, most shops would not do that....... long story short, any exhaust will be fine with a Y-pipe (unless a shop cut off your flanges).

I have it and live in Cali. Haven't got my car smogged yet but I'm hoping I can rough it up abit before its time. There's a member on here (or somewhere) who passed the Cali smog inspection with the y-pipe on. Depends on if the person smogging knows a s*** of information about the altima coupe.

Your car will still pass the sniffer portion of the test IF the person testing lets you get that far.

I just may look into this as a option.

I sent you an email. need specs of the pipe. Diameter? Need to plan my exhaust system, but all is dependent on your y-pipe specs.

Looks like your y-pipe for us Altima owners is on Backorder. Any idea of when that's going to be back in stock? Also are there any discounts for Nico members?
