First of all, I would like to thank Joe @ Racingline for sending out the y-pipe to me quickly. It shipped the same day I ordered it and I received the shipment in 4-5 business days. Not bad from Canada to Southern California. I was pretty amazed that the box looked perfect and there were no damages outside or inside the box. It came with all the necessary hardware to install the y-pipe. The fitment is perfect and thus a direct bolt-on.

Before I start reviewing, I just want to say I have installed and tested this product with the Borla exhaust for a week. This review is mainly based on my initial impression and overall experience with the y-pipe during my time.

What came inside the box? Y-pipe, hardware(NEWLY MADE GASKETS, bolts, washers, and nuts), instructions, and Racingline stickers.

Image

Initial Impression: A nice well made product. The 304 stainless steel mandrel piping, flanges, collectors, flex piping, hanger, and welds looked good and durable. Definitely a less restrictive y-pipe when comparing to the stock y-pipe. The RL y-pipe removes the catalytic converter and the huge crimp that the stock y-pipe has. My only small complaint is the welds, it could use cleaner welds, but that is just a bonus and not needed.

Installation: Like I mentioned earlier, it is a straight bolt-on. No fitment issues at all and fits like a glove. Installation took me no more than 15 minutes. It was that easy! Also NO MORE using the copper gasket sealant that you had to buy from a local auto store. Racingline has supplied their newly made gaskets to me. Thanks Joe! And NO leaks whatsoever!

Image

Sound: It increased the sound by a little, giving it a throatier, little rasp, and a deeper sound paired with my Borla. Droning didn't increase at all with the y-pipe and is still little to none, leaning towards to the none side. Some people have said that my car sounds like a 350z/G35 now, I tend to disagree at times...I believe its between an Altima and a Z/G now. Possibly HFC's can really make it closer to the Z/G sound? We shall see in the near future! Teaser video clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3q9J4LJyqc

Power: According to Racingline dyno, the y-pipe produces 13hp and 14ft/lbs to the wheels!! Butt dyno approves of this. A noticeable increased of torque and some horsepower throughout the RPM range. The car felt more responsive as well as the engine seems to be breathing easier(going by the sound of the exhaust flow), which on paper it should.

Image

Conclusion: Overall I would say this is one of the best bang for your buck when it comes to upgrading your exhaust. The power to money ratio is definitely worth it. Love the new sound it produces. No check engine light and best of all...made in Canada! Overall I would give this product an A-. :bigthumb: :dblthumb:

Stayed tuned for more videos...

Thank God someone is finally as happy with the Y Pipe as I am. It (along with Racingline) had been getting nothing but bashed on here for quite a while. I have had nothing but GREAT experiences with Joe and his products.

Nice review Loop! Keep them coming.

Is there a way to just get the gaskets because I ordered my y-pipe back in like August/September and still haven't installed it. It would be way easier to just use the gaskets in my opinion...

Loop, you said it was a 15-minute install. I assume you had access to a lift? Or were you up on jack stands?

Yes, 15 minute install, granted I have a good amount of experience under my belt. Jack, jack stands, and using the correct tools. And I always use PB Blaster. If you can install an intake, you can install the RL y-pipe as long as you know how to safely and secure the jack stands.

I need to pick up some PB Blaster. Stripped a throttle body mounting bolt last weekend, so I couldn't mount the K&N intake's support thingy right... Installed anyways, because it doesn't weigh much and is in there pretty good on the silicone tubing. Keeping an eye on it, anyways.

Bottom left? Yeah, me too. No problems and its been installed a year already without the bracket.

Yeah. There's just so little space to rotate the darned wrench that I stripped out what little I could, which made it impossible to get out. I call that poor planning on K&N's part.

Then again, it's obviously not a really important part, as you've just pointed out, and so I call it poor design and manufacturing on K&N's part. Unnecessary pieces increase costs.

sorry for not supporting you before but i love the way the racingline y-pipe sounds. yes its slightly raspier BUT it sounds so much throatier!!!! I would favor this over the stock (no sound) neday. definitely agree that its the best bang for your buck :bigthumb:

Excellent review Loop, thank you.

As mentioned the gaskets are online should anybody need them as replacements in the future should you ever need to uninstall your Ypipe for any reason. They will now be shipped as standard with all orders going forward

Hi racingline,

Can you cancel my gasket order? I ordered the ypipe and the gasket, I did not know it came standard with it. Thanks :)

Yes I was thinking of buying the y pipe anyways but once I got in your car loop and heard that bad boy with the exhaust combo, that just put the seal on top! :bigthumb: but I've installed my own intake so I'm thinking I should be ok.. LOL

Install isn't bad, as long as you have everything you need it will be quick. I also had jack/stands and a impact wrench so removal wasn't bad and install was easy since i bought all new equipment on top of what was supplied.
