Its illegal anywhere because removing a catalytic converter is illegal. But if you avoid the Nissan dealership and take it to gas stations they won't know better that our cars came with three cats. I have a y-pjpe in Virginia and you can't do ANYTHING fun in Virginia.

Metallic slate is right. On racingline's site it states that it's labelled for off road use due to removal of a cat. On another note I have passed 4 inspections (1 at a Nissan dealer) with my RL Y -pipe.

It would be a Hassle to switch out the y-pipe for inspections, reuse or buy new gaskets. Not to mention the corrosion on the 2 bolts at the Cat back with northern winters.

The cat that it removes is not sensored and removing it does not trip any sniff tests, which is the only thing we are inspected for in NJ since August of 2010. The only way you will fail inspection is if the tech does a visual (which they almost never do) and are also aware that the car should have 3 cats. I personally have not been inspected with mine, but my friend has been through in his sedan with flying colors.

Just take it to a gas station where they won't know any better. There is no reason to take it to DMV.

Yeah man, this is NJ. People know people who know people. This is the most corrupt state in the nation, take advantage.

And yes, if they do a visual inspection under the car and see that the cat is missing and they know it is supposed to be there, you will fail. The thing is most inspection techs do not care or do not know that its supposed to be there. Its really not a big deal. If you fail, you get a rejected sticker, you change it out for the stock Y, you go back and get it inspected with a pass, then you reinstall the Y pipe and you are good for two years.

^Not sure about that, but its pretty bad.

Google Trenton, NJ Mayor and see what you come up with. Keep in mind, Trenton is the capital of NJ. If the FBI is raiding the house of the mayor and the family of the mayor of the capital of a state, I'd say its a bit corrupt.

Implies outside next to the car. Not outside of the car, 50 feet away from the pumps and inflammable gasoline.

Either way, if you dont like NJ stay in PA. You will do much better there.
