racing is a very general subject because ther are many types of racing but from what i gather you are more into auto-x

The ca18det is a small motor that builds power at higher rpms and is not ideal for auto-x and you are already at a dis-advantage. Aso you are puting yourself in a more competitive class by doing a swap.

If you really want to auto-x you should do an all motor ka because you would be in a stock class and have a very tourky motor with a lot of cheap potential.

I believe any engine swaps or turbochargers/superchargers will automatically bump you into street mod. You have to want to be competative and modify your car accordingly in order to do well in autocross. The CA is a bad choice, at least for autocross around my area. Our tracks are usually very small with tight corners and short straights.

I had a lot of trouble in my RB20 as I would just spin constantly in first, but be almost completely out of boost in second. A motor with more low end torque would be ideal here.

My engine and drivetrain setup combined with the extreme class I was in, did not end with good results for me.

Good luck-Max
