I've read all of the previous racing seat threads but I'm still wondering, should the seat width equal around you're waistline measurment? I noticed most seats are like 26" in width, but I'm 6' tall and 225lbs with a 36" waist.

Think about it. If your waist is 36", that means it's the measurement AROUND your waist. Would it make sense to have your seat WIDTH match your waist CIRCUMFERENCE?

Corbeau FX1 ... fits me well and it has versatility.

I think I'm about 5'11" - 215 lbs

Another thing to consider is the height issue...most all racing seats (except brides, or bucket seats) will sit approx 1.5" or so above the stock height.

Literally the only seat that lets me fit comfortably in my car with a helmet on is my bride brix. I'm 6'2", ~215lbs, 34" waist, very broad shoulders.

Hey, check out the February 04 issue of Turbo and High Performance magazine. They compare 74 seat styles including, fit size recomendation and pricing. It is pretty informative. Check it out.

Thanks for the help guys. I need a driver's seat badly and I'm just going to get a set of racign seats. Contrary to some peoples opinions I find that the generic seats are good enough for me, I just want something that will fit.

Granted, that's the size for the brix II, but I believe the original Brix (what I have) should be similar.

it's the rails that raise the seat up. crappy rails or rail + slider combos = raised seats. doesn't matter bride, recaro, sparco, etc.

To thread starter: I'm 6'2" 220 pounds. I have a Sparco Pro 2000 with BRIDE FG rails and it sits lower than stock and the seat fits me awesome.

Actually, it's a combination of the rails and the seats. Brides (all of them) and all bucket seats (momo, sparco, whatever) have extremely thin bottom cushions. Couple that with a good set of rails and you've got a seat that seats at the right height.

My corbeau CR-1's (reclinable) sat too high because the seat cushion was like, 4 or 5 inches thick. I could fit fit if I removed the cushion, or I could have just had an upholstery shop shorten it and it would have been perfect (And also would have made the leg bolsters a bit taller since I'd be sitting lower).

Now, would you care to discuss the issue a little more?

Also, I have a bride reclining seat on bride rails/sliders, and it sits lower than stock. The only thing I can attribute this to is the height of the bride cushion on the seat because the slider/rail assembly is EXACTLY the same size/dimensions as my corbeau slider/rail assembly.
