so their i was sitting at a red light minding my own bis and some as hole pulls up in a five point no and rebs at me, then asked me if i wanted to run. it sounded fast and looked nice so i said no(thinking he was too fast for me.then he yelled out that my ceral box caR could not keep up any way. light turned green and i shot him the bird, and by third gear i my almost stock 240 was kicken his ***. so much for a V8, all he seen was tail lights.

people always think that their stock mustang is fast... a high 14 second car isn't that fast to me... especially when they're that old, and probably run 15's.

My friend ran his bone stock 2002 Mustang GT 5 speed at our strip and it ran a 13.9 without him really launching it.

They're talking about the 80's 5.0 mustangs.

Yes I know, sorry it just kind of slipped my mind that he was talking about the 5.0 and not mustang in general. I don't know about early 80s mustangs but I know that the later model 5.0s were pretty torquey engine.

There was a 5.0 messing with me last night on my way to the mall. It was real ugly and the guy was clearly a jackass, so it was very tempting. It was pouring rain though, so even taking off slow at the lights I couldn't get traction through 1st or 2nd gear.

A guy in my AST class had a '92 5.0TT...now that was a bad car.

Mustangs are REALLY not that fast. You need a Cobra or a Mach 1 to actually get to the point of being a 'muscle car'. GTs are just RWD coupes...

F.Y.I. the stock hp of the 1987-1993 mustang 5 litre was 225 and 300 lbs.ft. of torque. when wrapped up in a 2800-3200 lbs. package (depending on options) this car was a terror to go up against, AND STILL IS! so be careful cause not all 5-0 fans are running with a loose nut behind the wheel. where i,m at there are 2 groups of car fans , the american V8 crowd and the import crowd , I,m in the latter but I wont have any delusions of going up against the v8,s with any ideas of winning. I mean these jokers might be brain-dead rednecks but they take there cars/ driving VERY SERIOUSLY. but hey if all you can find are idiots piloting mustangs have fun and by all means keep handing there a$$es to them

I was put into a situation tonight where I really wished I had a fast car, lol...

I pull up to a redlight behind a 2nd gen Camaro, and I see the guy eyeing my car in his rear view. So, he takes off like he's nuts then falls back until I get right behind him, then takes off then falls back. Then we get to a passing zone and he goes halfway over the white line, slows to like 30mph and tries to wave me by. I just stay back and chuckle because what jackass toys with teenagers...that's right, lets teach the youth of our country its okay to race each other.

See, an F-body...that's a fast car...Camaro >>Mustang

In response to Licenthrope, you have to compare apples to apples. A GT will rape a stock S-body, but just about any pony car, import or domestic, will dominate a GT. Yeah, it's has some nice torque numbers, but it's power to weight is teh suck. True muscle cars have 10 lbs per HP or less.

I had some POS older toyota truck test me tonight, except he did it on my tail from a redlight. I took off in my auto sohc and he stayed right on my tail, and when I started trying to get over, he was speeding up past me, but I kept edging over and he had to drop back.

That POS was fast, and if I'd have tried to race it, I would have lost. He had a manual btw and we were starting out on a slight hill (manual > auto on a hill). I have no doubt in my mind that if I had a manual, I would have pwned him.

That pissed me off, and made me decide once and for all Im gonna get my ca18 + manual swap...although I guess a ka24 would have more pull off the line.

Although I love my 91 coupe, I have installed the 5.0 originally for my s13 in a 92 Mustang lx. With $550, I have gotten a 410hp package in a 2750lb car. It absolutely kills my stock 240. I cannot see putting $550 in my Nissan and keeping up. Now I wish that I had shoehorned the roller motor into my 240. It would have made it nice for all the C4 Corvettes and new F-bodies in my town.
