The whole experience was more of an acceleration test, than anything approximating a race. The streets were dead, and it was just me and this silver G35 coupe who had been with me since we left the freeway. We were coming up on a red light, right before a long stretch that starts with a gentle downhill, and runs straight along a park.

He slowed down more than he needed to in order to nearly completely stop at the red light, so as I was coming up I knew he wanted to go. I slowed down from 45 to around 25 as I was going through the intersection (3 to 2 downshift). He pulled up next me. We kind of paced each other for a few seconds to get lined up, then I eased into the throttle. He got on the gas as soon as I started to barely pull on him.

At that point I put the peddle down, spun out the few hundred remaining RPMs from 2nd then dumped it into 3rd at WOT. We were neck in neck to the top of 3rd, and then all the way up through 4th until I shut down because he had a car coming up in his lane.

I'd say the two of us were really equally matched on mid-gear acceleration. It was cool to finally figure that out. I'm looking forward to dialing in another 3-5 pounds of boost. G35's should fall with ease at that point.... assuming that I can get the whole 115mph / 5000RPM in 5th problem fixed.

I love the new G35s... My mom's got a black sedan (automatic, though... aparently, manuals aren't "practical") and it's got plenty of power down low. I was about to race a coupe in my bro's 240 a few weekends ago, but something told me not to do it (that something was my brother) and it's a good thing, too. As soon as the light hit green, the G took off after a quick burst of tire smoke... and a friendly officer hidden in a dark corner of a parking lot made that guy's day!

Are you a KA-T or an SR? I can see both doing that with more boost than stock (SR) or just a good amount on a KA. Either way good stuff man. What are those G35's supposed to do an a quarter mile?

Phax: Nice, BTW how do you like that Megan racing catback? I've seen their stuff on Ebay before but was a little leary. Any good? How's fitment?

The fitment on the exhaust is great. I made a post in the SR forum about it if you want to read the whole review. The short version is that the fitment is great, it runs straight back off the cat and has a lot of ground clearance. The muffler is a bit too shiny for my tastes, so I'm going to painting it grey.

I think 7psi. It's at the "stock" setting on the ECU. I have an intake an exhaust though, so it might be 8-9. I remember when I got an HKS exhaust on my Starion, it boosted a pound or two higher.

As soon as I can afford to be without the car for a day, I'm going to have the gauges put in. Then I have a better idea of how much boost it is really making.
