Alright i got a race tonight two of them actually. One against a 94 3000gt its 222 horse power 3200 lbs. fwd with exhaust, and a race against a VW gti 1.8t(turbod) 150 horse power, it weighs 2860 lbs. and this guy has exhaust bov. Now all i can tell you because i know you guys are gonna say something about the skill of the driver, as far as i know im pretty damn good for an amature, i've been 300zx's with one driver when its me and my friends(3 in the car) before and others as well. Will i win both of these races just one or none at all. thanx

oops sorry was that to much like reality?

If you are doing it on a racetrack disregard my comments and good luck to you.

um, 3000gt sl's (fwd NA version) arent much of a problem, they may have 222 hp at the crank but they put down 160hp at the wheels

and oh yeah, it weighs 3797 lbs unless he has a base model, if he has a base model and not the SL, the car will be very slow

despite that they are still quick cars

as for the vw, lemme say this, if it is turboed and only has 150hp at the crank, then it cant be that fast

and the 300zx's you beat, i assume that you are refering to the early 90's models, like the 300gt, they are quick and both have the same hp or close, but against the turbo versions, not many cars stand a chance

Hey Solid...you live in San Jose Cali? I use to live around there and go to the runs with my friends all the time. Where did you go for the runs?

Street racing is retarded....

Disregard my comment if this was legally sanctioned.

Dont tell me you guys Never, not even once went street racing. To me....street racing isn't all that bad....cause most of the runs are in isolated areas with the road block off, so the only people getting hurt from it are those who participates or watches them.

I have street raced in the past... but it's dumb. If you want to drag race, get a mustang, camaro, or something... you can go a lot faster in a straight line for a lot less money.

Street racing is illegal and you can hurt innocent people by doing it.

Amen BBLX,Any chucklehead can get in a car and race another car. It takes a skilled driver to take it to the track and put down his/her skills. I invite anyone to come out with Repoman and I to do some legal racing at Indianapolis Raceway Park (drag), Putnam Park (road course) or down at 16th street (AutoX) here in Indianapolis.

tru the first time i did i was so stupid. i took on my friend in his dad's 85 Z28 with like 200,000mi behind a kmart shopping center sooo stupid. of course when we ge tto the end of the building almost at 80 with him having half a car length (this is when i was stock) a car comes around the coner. i manuver between it and the build jsut barely my friends locked up his wheels (skid marks are still there) and swerved out of the way. cops were patroling around it the same time the next night, i work right next to it. it has taught me to be smarter about street racing

Ok... maybe you people are slow. "if it is turboed and only has 150hp at the crank, then it cant be that fast" There's a reason they call it 1.8T and it's not fast because it runs very little boost with an incredibly small turbo. Just an ECU will put it up at 200hp and 250ish lb/ft, trust me, my bro drives a 1.8T A4, I can attest to the power with just chip and exhaust. That doesn't really matter, you will win that one. The 3000gt, in my opinion, will beat you easily unless he sucks or hits something.

Ha Ha if you think that the 3000 gt sl is fast then you are full of ****! I raced my friends when i was almost stock. i missed 3rd gear and still beat him by at least 8 car lenths. that was one of the slowest cars that i ever raced. and for the VW they are s**t. I work at a VW dealer and drive them all the time and they are slow!!!

can't argue there. if he worked at the dealership then he should know. 3000gt's are slow, (might get flammed), but even the vr4's are slow compared to some of the cars in THEIR class. They are too heavy. Hard to control. It may have a lot of hp's and AWD, but to me it's only to move all that weight. This kid that i know swares he's the sh*t b/c he has a full bomex bodykit automatic 3000gt (i think) SE. and im like i can beat you in my car. he tells me how he goes to the races and sh*t and im like how do you race with and auto. wit out destroing you transmission? he's like i don't race my car, but when i go up to new york and sh*t and i see some one i'll race em'. ussally civics, but, thats all whats on the road. (rrrrrrrright) then i go what happend to the front bumper of your car it's all chipped. he goes thats what happen when your going 100mph. im like r u serious. he's like yeah. im like thats funny i have a friend of mine how has a A4 and he hits like 120 everytime he's on the freeway and his sh*t isn't chipped. IDK thats just my story for the night!

yeah i use to go milpitas but its hella dead, use to go baily to but its pretty dead now also, i didnt have my car during those times i had to ride with my friends. And it wasn't at a track, and you can say whatever but i did beat the 3000, plus i heard there not that fast. It was close though i will admit the only reason i probably won was because my lauch was better and the 240 does pull like hell in first in second.

forgive me if i offend anyone, but the boy asked a racing-related question, and this thread quickly joined the ranks of so many more that went from racing to ethics. Granted, we all know street racing is dangerous and it belongs on the track, but were *that* many posts necessary to establish that point? I'm not trying to sound like an ***, but it seems to me too many people drag out threads by all saying in unison "street racing is stupid" when we all already know this and he was obviously going to do it anyway (and he did). my 2 cents: one person should state the fact and then we should all move on instead of wasting posts saying "street racing is bad".

yea ill get flammed, but o well. Where we go street racing is actually pretty safe. It is a long *** road, in the middle of a field. There is no where to turn into the road, within 3 miles. 1 way in, 2 ways out, and the 2 ways out, are 3 miles strait ahead. So we can see everyone coming. Alot of the times the cops are out there with there vets, and camaros. I raced one cop in a z28 when i had my nitrous, and he barely beat men. I go to the track alot to, which is awsome, but around here there are always events going on at the track. So we pay 30 bucks for maybe 3-4 runs. Maybe getting 1 run an hour. Its not like im gonna race a guy in a main street in the middle of a city.

Ps the only person ever getting his car even messed up where we go was a dumb *** in a trans am, that did a burn out and went in a ditch.

Syntax, If you want a moratorium on "Street Racing Is Bad" threads, lets have a moratorium on "Who would win in a race?" threads. I actually get sick of the sheer amount of threads asking this question. On any given Sunday, any team can win. There are so many factors that go into the outcome of a race (legal or not), that you cannot summarize it into one nice little equation. I have beaten an LT1 Corvette in a ¼ mi race because he jumped the Christmas Tree Light and had a mis-start. It didn’t matter that I ran a 16.5 second ¼ mi time. Also, I honestly think that the debate on the ethics of street racing will never “move on” because too many people glamorize the activity. Honestly most people act like its “Wild West.” I wont bore you with dialog about this issue. I will leave you with this one thought. If anyone hurts my family or friends while street racing or exhibitioning, I am going take a reciprocating saw to their car and then pay the cops to look the other way as my buddies re-arrange the person’s face.

Shut up and race. that about sums up my feelings. Too much bench racing sedates the brain and dulls the reflexes.

Umm... 222hp will move that car, yes it is heavy, but it will be close.
