Why race a Saturn, especially on the street. Are you lookig for bragging rights?

If the 240 is stock... most likely not. There was someone just last week talking about this race. His 240 was a modded NA S14 and the SC would start to pull away around 100 after the 240 had jumped ahead off the line.

From what I've been told the SC's run a mid to high 15 in the 1/4 with a decent driver.

Depends on his launch. If he's a clown, he'll wheel-hop all over the place, if he's good, you'll have to work for your win, and he might take you.

Somehow, I'm just surmising that anyone issuing street-racing challenges from a '92 stock Saturn is likely clown material though, but then again, I dunno that you're not either.

I hope I never get the speed bug again. I used to fly eveywhere I went when I was much younger. I know that speed is like a drug for me... once I try it again I will be hooked!

I am so much more into gas milleage now. I rather have a good, reliable, steady, fast(when I need it) 240. That way I can pass all those racers while they are pumping gas.

it should be a decent race if your motor/trans are in good condition. If not, then you're gonna go like a mid 16 and he's going to leave you pretty good.

I have a totally stock (motor wise) S14 and just got back from the 1/4 mile.

I ran a 16.4 with a 123,000 mile motor. I don't consider myself to be an excellent straight line driver, but i did pretty well. So, if the Saturn is running mid 15's, looks to me that you've got some losing to look forward to....but the s13 is a little lighter and you could be an awesome driver. Good Luck. Represent haha

I think your mistaking the saturn sc for a scion tc I remember reading the thread about the scion pulling away from the s14 at about 90. If its a saturn sc2 you should have no problem winning this race the thing has 124hp and 122 torque and only 300 pounds lighter

I raced one of the new Scions he had intake exhaust and rice up stickers that added 100+hp.Was sittign at a light he revved a couple times I just looked at him and smiled. It was a turn lane light turned green he took off I punched and drifted along the outside of him until my tire caught and puleed about 3 cars by the time I hit 3rd then he slowly started catching me I let off at 90.Sometimes you can't help but race on the street. It was 2AM and we were the only cars on the road so it's better than middle of the day.

my old pretty much stock 91 went 15.8, and I personally thought it could do better cuz the driver(kid I sold it too) isn't that good of a driver.....at all. During the test drive before I sold it he was grinding, missing gears and the such.. Oh and the cars only power mods were, S14ka, I/H/E, z32 ff

The fact that there is so much buzz about a 240 and a SATURN racing makes me uneasy. I need a turbo so bad!!

When my car was still stock, and still an automatic, I raced an auto '97? SC2. We didnt start from a stop, we took off at like 30mph. I got out in front of him by about a car length and kept that distance until I backed out of it at around 100mph. Then I was behind him going around 70 and I passed him no problem, as soon as I got into the other lane he floored it but didnt go anywhere.

well, i know this sounds funny, but ever since i got my 240, my friend wants to race me in his v6 grand cherokee. I just laughed in his face everytime. But he wouldn't shut up, so i raced him last night. We went from a dead stop and i absolutely smoked him. We also went from a 30mph roll, still killed him. I'm not looking for bragging rights at all for this one, i just had to make my fried shut up! It was fun though seeing the look on his face when we pulled in to eat that he thought his lead tank could beat my 240. and im glad u beat that saturn, would've been a discrace to 240s if you hadn't, same if i would've lost last night. But racing slow things is fun in your 240. Maybe I should have given the jeep a haed start? Who knows

Stay away from GSX Eclipses though...

My friend has one, don't know specifics but it has aftermarket turbo and FMIC running 19 psi. He wanted to race me all day Sunday and I wouldn't...then I was like ah hell might as well. I swear it jumped off the line and landed 5 feet ahead of me, lol. Then it was all downhill from there (for me)

I wouldn't dis Saturns too hard, I am in love with the new Sky that is coming out. I may have to buy one sometime soon.

For those that don't know, the Saturn Sky is a RWD 2 door, 2 seat droptop. Yes, a RWD Saturn Saturn hasn't given an MSRP, but Pontiac announced its sister car the Solstice as starting at $19,995. I don't see it deviating much.
