I never got a chance to race the IS350 since I had a toddler along with my grandmother in the car, plus it was a little after 5:00pm w/a lot of traffic. But the guy wanted to race for $500. From what I know his car is stock and my '06 M45 has the Injen intake. Do you think I should take the bet and has anyone raced an IS350?

Thanks, D.

Pop,Boy, I would be careful. The IS350 is a true mid 5 second to sixty car. Furthermore, the IS has a 6 speed transmission. The sixty runs seem to be within .1 seconds, stock. A big question would be what kind of skills does your opponent have. With the Injen Intake, no A/C, no VDC, and a 1/4 tank of gas I would probably do it for yuks and giggles. If you can afford your M, you can afford to lose the bet. I would guess it will be close. Just make sure to take out the child carrier M.L

I Love topics like this...cause i myself am a advid...stoplight ego taker =D with the 03 M...but i would have taken the challenge....most of the IS 350's have been clocked around the same 1/4 mile time as the new M45...but with the 6speed depends on driver and how expeirenced....i am betting he has practiced if it is for $500....but i would take it if the IS350 is stock....it would be really close....if you do it let us know....better yet tape it

Did I mis-read the test results in Motor Trend awhile ago that said the IS350 did 0-60 in 4.9 seconds? I'm pretty sure that's a touch faster than the new or old M45. That car is a hell of a machine, and has one of the smoothest transmissions I've ever had the pleasure of controlling.

Hello,I am not sure if it might have been another test, but here is another one from Motor Trend: http://www.motortrend.com/road....htmlThis was a first test so it would not suprise me if there quicker runs elsewhere.Cheers,M.L

Check that out... they have a G35 in there too... I believe that's the review I read a while ago. it says 5.1. And I know someone pulled a 4.9 out of that car... It really surprises me the new G37S isn't faster than it is... I'm seeing times in the mid 5's... that's kind of unacceptable for the level of horsepower... especially when for a couple grand more you can get the 335ci and run with M3's from a few years ago.

If you got a G37 and tinkered with the frame you can get it faster bc the doors had to be reinforced with some heavy metal to pass crash test rating well....If you had the money i think it would be a worthwhile project. It should be capable of runs in the high 4's

While on a straightline the IS might be faster, the stab/trac controls are not fully defeatable. That is a big difference. Their motor tech is top notch.CheersM.L
