So I'm re-doing the sound insulation on my '93 hatch and was wondering if anyone has ever used RAAMmat. If so, how did it turn out?

If not, does anyone have any other suggestions on quality sound insulation?

Yes.

I have it in 2 of my cars, doing a 3rd tomorrow.

It is, IMHO, the best bang for the buck in sound deadening / heat barrier.

There is a "shootout" article on the web somewhere, the RAMMmat came out on top.

Yeah, I saw that shootout.

Did you use one or two rolls? I'm planning on putting the stuff everywhere...

I bought 2 rolls, and I have a BUNCH left over. It goes a LOT further than they say.

Some areas really don't need it. Critical areas are floorboard, firewall / footwell, and doors (behind panels).

Beyond that, the benefit is negligible.

Buy 1 roll and order another if need be. But 1 roll should be more than enough.

i recently did my whole hatch with raammat. exept the roof and engine bay. i would buy 2 rolls. that way you dont have to worry about running out. also he gives you a better price. i got the second roll for $100. and you can put second layers on important spots. watch out though, its a b**** to get your seats and seat belts back in when you just added 3/4 of a inch of material under there. and remember where the holes were. i used a small screwdriver and just poked for the holes.i dont know how it compares to dynamat but i do know that dynmat is almost 3 times the price. it worked good for me. you can for sure tell the difference. even when i started up my car i could hardly hear the motor.

I used it and loved this stuff, get 100 sq ft if you want to do the entire cabin the trunk and the doors that should do it. Like the other guy said watch for the holes as you go along I used an exacto knife to cut them as I went so I didn't miss any

gregfarz78 is who inspired me to do this whole project. after seeing his amazing restoration build i had to do it. but yea you can personally ask the guy if you can have like 3/4 of a roll to save a little money.
