Dose any one know how to get into the climate control settings, to enable the climate control to go from the lowest setting of 16 degrees to LOW, like most other cars on the market.

The reason I ask is because, most cars with climate control that can go to LOW, or even older cars with the blue and red lines (for temperature control), when set on the lowest setting would normally go down to 4-6 degrees supply air at the vent, which is when the compressor cuts out, and then cut's back in at 10-12 degrees

With the set point at 16 degrees, mine will only achieve a minimum of 12 degrees supply air, and being a wagon and after sitting in the sun all day in Brisbane, the car gets dam hot. So having the A/C go to a lower setting would be so much more comfortable.

The mechanical and refrigeration function and cycle of the A/C system is not at fault this time, although I wish it was as it would be a quick fix for my self.

I am expecting this to be some kind lower emissions setting they have introduced, like the green wire mod and the EGR valve. To prevent to compressor from running longer, therefore using less fuel burning less emissions etc.

I have also read through the manual in this link, but I do not think that the procedure on pages 24 & 25 can be carried out on my R51 ST-L, as the radio and climate control functions are different.

I am hoping that it is some kind of procedure like, Turn the ignition to the on position, turn this knob and hold this in etc.

I don't think that's the case. The "low" setting on other cars is just an arbitrary value. They could have engineered the value to be at 24*C, or they could make the value 8*C. The fact that yours goes down to 16*C and does not have a "LO" setting simply indicates that 16*C happens to be that arbitrary low, and just doesn't label it as such. (I bet if it did say "LO" instead of 16, this thread wouldn't be here, and instead would just be "why is my A/C not very cold?") Like on my Z, with auto CC, I have full range from 65*F-85*F, and the lowest value jumps from 65* to 60*, and the high value jumps from 85* to 90*. Whatever the CC gives you just happens to be the temperatures allowed.

Now, you're saying it just doesn't get cool? Have you checked your refrigerant? I know you said the mechanical cycle is working fine, but if the refrigerant is worn out or leaked down, that'll be your problem.

Are you sitting still while running your A/C? A lack of air flow over the condenser will cause the refrigerant to not condense and cool as well as if it had a good steady stream of air over it. Yes, the condenser has a fan, but that's more of a "last resort" to keep the system from overheating than anything.
