That's so weird, I never noticed this before (I guess I never really looked for it) but the luggage room lamp powers all of the door switches. When you open the door it grounds the switches and turns the interior lamps on as well as the door ajar lamp on the instrument cluster. When the a door is closed the interior lamp feeds 12V to the SECU to let it know that all the doors are closed. With the bulb being out, the SECU thinks a door is open because there is no 12V being supplied (the bulb completes the circuit).slickroger wrote:Whats up, problems are just flying at me but atleast most are minor and the Nico crew(you) is handling them.
My door ajar light wont shut off i've been trying to locate the pin for the trunk with no luck. Is the pin in the locking mechanism and my dome light is currently not connected could that be the problem?
No, if you ground it then the car will still always think a door is open. To make the door ajar indicator and dome light operate normally, you would want to connect the RED and RED/BLUE wire at the luggage room lamp. This will make it think there is a light bulb in the socket while powering all of the door switches. There is already a diode in place on the RED/BLUE wire so you shouldn't have to worry about messing up your SECU.W O T wrote:My door ajar light is always on to, I figured I just busted a couple of the sensors with my stereo.... But Ive also modified my factory map light.... Hmmm
You think I just have to ground the factory ground wire that went to the map light pwnin?
I was trying to locate the back door switch a couple of days ago out of curiosity. From the vehicle wire harness routing diagram, the back door switch is located at the locking mechanism inside the back door.slickroger wrote:My door ajar light wont shut off i've been trying to locate the pin for the trunk with no luck. Those are the wires at the luggage room lamp (the lamp right next to the back door hatch)? Those are the correct wire colors for the other lamps on the vehicle (dome light, map lights and vanity mirror lamps), but not for the luggage room lamp. I would suggest checking the wires again and looking for a RED and RED/BLUE wire.W O T wrote:I pulled my little maplight out today and the only factory connector under there was a tiny 2 pin connector with a red/green wire and a red/black wire. Wasnt connected to anything. The red/green has constant power, the red/black had none.
Cut the connector off and twisted them together, door ajar light was still on
These the right wires atleast?
No, it looks like you would need to use a relay instead. I didn't think it would short a fuse but I guess it does. You can power the relay using the RED wire and then monitor the RED/BLUE wire and use the ground at the cargo area lamp.slickroger wrote:I patched the red with the red/blue wire and it fried one of my fuses
