Hi everyone.
I have a '01 QX4 - and I wanted to poll and check-in with the rest of you Pathfinder/Qx4 owners to see if what I'm experiencing is "normal" operation.
I believe it's torque steer, but some folks may debate the use of the term on a RWD. I know my Qx4 is not RWD, what I mean is that my drive selector (transfer case gear selector) is set to "2WD".
What I notice is mainly during highway speeds 55mph+
What happens is when I immediately release the gas pedal, I'll feel the tail shift to the driverside. Then when I get back on the gas pedal, the tail will shift to the passenger side.
There should be no frame issues, as I'm able to straighten out. The "tail shift" is momentary.
The way I'd describe is is the drive shaft is putting power to the transaxle and thus the wheels. Because of the way the drive shaft is spinning, I figure whenever power is sent through the drive shaft, it'll great a sudden cranking on the transaxle, thus giving me that slight sensation that the tail is shifting either side when I depress the gas pedal or release the gas pedal.
Anybody else feel this? or is there something more going on with my drive train or suspension?
Note: I do have OME Medium Duty springs, with KYB Struts and KYB shocks - installed sometime mid 2010.
