So who's game for a weekend so-cal desert trip? I was thinking Anza Borrego, Rowher Flats, Mojave, wherever. I'm open to suggestions and thinking sometime in July would be cool so we've got ample prep time. The trails need to be suitable for 2WD vehicles but there is no shortage of those so-cal. So who's game?

Seems to me like your lack of a front axle might be holding back some of the fun :lolling: Jk bro, if we were still out in San Diego I would for sure have met up with yall, always wanted to go do some desert wheeling :naughty:

I like to look at it as I'm giving the 4WD's an opportunity to go faster. Too bad you're not out here brutha, how about making a trip out west?

Ohh man I've heard Jawbone is awesome. I got down to Baja this morning and won't be heading back until Monday night. Be sure to post a trip report with lots of pics.

EDIT: We could always go down to Baja. We just closed escrow yesterday on our place down here and I should have it furnished and improvements completed in the next 90 days. So here's what we get to wake up to every morning.

Too bad you wont be out here later otherwise you could hitch a ride.

Now that I'm looking at a calendar how's Saturday and Sunday August 14th-15th sound?

Not sure about Aug 14-15 yet. I may or may not be on call that weekend. I'll know pretty soon. And if you decide on going down to baja, i don't think i'll be able to make it. i will, however, be sitting back here wish i could.

I was thinking about making a trip to the Borrego area during late June early July till I looked at temps in summer, has anyone had any trouble wheeling their qx4 or pathy in 110 degree heat?

LOL mine overheats in any weather. Even 30* if climbing several thousand feet. 110* is my QX4's worst nightmare!

All of you suck. I mean, really. Take pictures, though. As far as the temps, I've been out pounding the hills around Calico mid summer 110-120 and my Pathy never missed a beat. Watched the temp the whole time, but you should be ok. Adam, did you wind up going to Jawbone? I want to go riding there when we get back to Cali..Supposedly pretty sick. Aquaduct runs through it and the whole deal.

Dude that's s***! Did you get your x-fer case fixed or were you rocking the 2WD?

I didn't think about temps, July/August will be way too hot. In 100* weather at idle my compressor always seems to transform into a heater. How about the middle of September? Maybe September 18th and 19th?

You see, i thought about it being hotter than bacon in a fryer out in the desert. But i'm new here, and thought you guys would know how the R50 performs in that kind of heat. Haha. It's good, i don't think i wanted to be subjected to 100+ heat any more than my pathy. September sounds like a good time to me, billy.

Wrightwood off the 138? I'm game for that if my 2Wd can handle it. I used to go snowboarding every week up there. I've got some other buddies that would come out as well.

EDIT: Even if it's not suitable for 2WD I might still be game with some of my Jeep buddies.

I'm rocking the 2wd, too. So, i'm ready for anything that it can handle. And whatever it can't, i hope someone has a wench and i'll bring the 2x4s and a shovel.

Is the wench going to serve the beers as you use the 2x4's and shovels to free the truck.

Sorry couldn't resist. I know you meant winch.
