R46: 1946 Dodge with R32 GTR Internals, Build pics thus far!

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

I own a R32 GTR RB26DETT front clip that is going into my 1946 Dodge Custom sedan, basically trading my old flathead L-head Inline 6 for a 50 yr newer Inline 6, a lot better and diferent than a V8 swap My myspace has some pics up of the swap and she should be running out on the streets by the end of July/begining of Aug. To answer some questions (feel free to ask more) before they are asked here are the reasons why I abondoned my Hot Rod "V8" friends for the "Japanese" motor.

- The 46 curb weight is LESS than the curb weight of the R32 GTR- The R32 engine/transmission combo though is atleast 80lbs lighter than my giant old Iron drivetrain- I wanted to have MPG and reliablity and have the coolness of keeping an Inline motor in a factory Inline car- The 46 has a really close drag coefficient as an R32

And here is the run down between the two cars

You're my new best friend.

We're planning an old rat rod with a VH45DETT hanging all out in the open.

Welcome aboard.

You should get some forged internals in there, always nice to have some room for more power.

Keep on posting pics, really cool stuff!

Well first things first getting it in right now I am focused on oiling issues getting fixed and the factory internals handle 500-600hp, which is alright by me for the momment. After the intial install and writing up my portfolio for possible sponsorships then I am focusing on brakes and suspension, then back to the motor build up.

Yeah, you´re right. Make it run and chase some sponsors, will take years to upgrade every part from start.

Yeah the long road of being young and finding cash for car build ups The only reason I mention sponsorships is that I have a couple companies interested they just want to see it actually running around before considering investment, nothing out of realm of good business sense.

Jess, I can't wait to see this thing in person.

Jason (rotorimp), the guy who built my KA-T, is into weird fab stuff as well, he's doing an RB25 into his Coupe, and we're looking forward to a "field trip" to Chandler to get a tour of this Frankenstein!!!

Thanks mate!

Do you know if the Z32 transmission will fit without adaptor? That transmission is crazy strong if you find one in good shape.

You actually just swap bellhousings, or so my mechanic/roomate friend has said so thats what we're doing plus its like 40 pounds lighter than the RB! Nothing like losing weight If you or hitman know anyone wanting to convert a 300zx to AWD tell me, I might part with all my AWD components for an RB25 oil pan or something, just a thought.
