a few pics from the show of the new GTR, not surprisingly the BIGGEST ATTRACTION not only in the NISSAN station, but pretty much the whole auto show.

the famed badge!

Nice pics. I know it's hard to get a good one without having some person walk in front of you.

ya i saw friday it was super sexy. although the guy talking about the gt-r seemed like he read all the specs off of a brochure, instead of actually being interested in the skyline. yes i referred to it as a skyline

R35 is just the chassis designation. The current Skyline's chassis designation is V35 while the GT-R's chassis designation is R35.

I know there's a lot of confusion about this, why its not called a Skyline. Its because its not a Skyline. The Skyline is the G35... simple as that. The GT-R looks nothing like the G35/Skyline because its neither of those. The Skyline GT-R's that we all know of were versions of the Skyline just like you have Maxima GXE and Maxima SE... the GXE and SE are trim levels just like GT-R was a trim level of the Skyline so to speak. The new GT-R is a car, that's the name of it. Simple as that.

Basically... calling it a Skyline would be like calling, say for instance, a 240SX with VG30DETT swap a 300ZX. (not exactly but you get the idea hopefully)

I'll get off my soapbox now. Just trying to get rid of the GT-R/Skyline confusion that is going on.

that one guy is right the r35 stands for the body style in the skyline the same goes for the r34 and r33 but i am confused about the engine in the r32 it had and rb25det rwd but in the r33 and r34 it had an rb26 rwd with an awd transfer case so what does the r35 have in it? ( by the way im 15)

R32, R33, R35 Skyline GT-R has RB26DETT with ATTESA ET-S all wheel drive. The [R35] GT-R has the VR38 with ATTESA ET-S all wheel drive, however the gear box is a 6-speed, twin clutch transaxle mounted in the back of the car. One drive shaft from the engine feeds power to the transaxle, which power the rear wheels and sends power through another driveshaft to a front differential powering the front wheels.

R32 was first return of Godzilla and was lighter than R33 or R43. R33 was larger chassis and had improved awd system. R34 brought back sculped fenders and looks great, was still bigger than R32, had improved awd system same as R33.

FYI - The magazine "Sport Compact Car" this month comes with a DVD dedicated to the Skyline. Has history, tuning, racing and a sort of promo at the end for the new model. Go buy and watch it! The cover story is a how to drive article, kicking off a new series of how to drive articles. And the first one is about Drifting.

Unbelievably sexy car. Many auto experts have called it the most anticipated car of 2008. That's saying a lot.
