Ive searched and searched and asked and asked and I keep getting different results.

Specs:1995 Nissan 240sx RB25DET 317 WHP

It has the R33 4.10 VSLD in it. For some reason, it pretty much exploded. Its toast.Obviously I wish to replace this.

My question is...

Should I replace with the same another R33 VLSD with the 4.10 gear ratio or go ahead and buy the 300zx TT with 3.90 gears?

I was told that if I dropped to 3.90 gears, I would disappointed with the car would not quick around town. (obviously)

I also plan on upgrading to a GT35rHA setup eventually and having that gear ratio would not be good for a bigger turbo?

Post up what your advice is. I will buying a diff tomorrow morning.

Thanks

i personaly hate the short gearing of the 4.10.. id go for a long geard 3.6 out of a q45.

the 300ztt diff wont fit its not a r200v.

strongest oem diff is the q45 diff. requires:q45 diffq45 axle300z n/a axleq45 hubs.

How does everyone like their 300zx rear end?

How much power are you running if you have that rear end?

I am just trying to get an idea of how much "get-up" ill loose with a higher gear ratio.

Most people in 240gen don't have enough power to run that kind off diff. It's mostly low budget mods here. Try the Hybrids section or drift forum if you want some answers.

As stated above. The strongest rear diff that fits the 240 is the Q45. The Z32TT rear is a R230 and physically will not bolt up without serious modifications to the rear subframe. The Q45 rear diff uses 30 spline output shafts. You will need a drivers side TT axle from a Z32 and a drivers side axle from a Q45. You also have to swap the rear hubs to either the TT or Q45 hubs due to the 30 spline axles. The earlier rears had 3.54 gears and the later ones had 3.60 gears. When you have a higher power car you will want the higher gearing not the low 4.10 gears. I am about to put this same setup behing my 530hp motor in my S14. Several of the V8 guys are using them and have had no problem. The great thing about the Q45 swap is that most people don't want that diff so they are available and cheap if you do break one.

Only problem I have with the q45 diff is the drivers side z32 tt axle is $$$$The Q45 axle can be found for under $40 shipped. The drivers side 300zx axle goes for $100+ . I found you can get a reman axle for $80 + core but without a core you are looking around $140. I guess I was spoiled by the cheap axles for j30/na 300zx and our stock ones.
