Yea, that would be completely illegal. Don't risk it.

People will think of anything to make a buck off someone else. Even if they succeed you will have to deal with constantly looking over your shoulder. Some are fine with that.

trust your gut. You already have the answer. The 33 can be complianced but it isn't as simple as walking into DMV and getting a title typed up. The 32, unless it's a former Motorex car is a total no-go.

i mean ive found a R32 that had been imported by motorex and he has proved it through email but id drive down of course and check before i bought it and he wants 40,000 thousand for it. found another r32 identical to that one in south carolina for 20,000 and he claims he has a us title and its a 100% leagal and he has the paper work for it but he is suposibly a importer of them he has three. then there is a R33 in some dudes garage in GA for 6500 that needs put back together with out the paper work. how hard would it be for me to just go in myself and make it leagal and get it inspected myself or dose the government have to inspect it?

The Motorex R32 is expensive because it has the proper Fed Bond Release that makes it US Fed-legal. If the importer with the other R32 cannot show a Fed Bond Release then it is Fed-illegal. The R33 in the dudes garage could be made legal but it will cost about 25k to have all the work done to it for the bond release, not including what you have to spend getting it put back together.

So....- Motorex R32 is completely legal- Importers R32 is illegal and cannot be made legal (Only R33's can go through the process)- R33 could be made fed legal with the right amount of money- State title and registration does not make the car legal

I would be very careful with the later two cars listed.

Doubtful as they would not meet the US standards either. Same with the S15.

Can you send me the e-mails you have from this guy with a MotorEx R32? Everything. I can go through them and see what the deal is. It's possible he isn't pulling your leg and it's legit, which if it is, would be the best way to go. Sometimes, if you want to play, you have to pay.

If you are willing to share with me the info you have on this car, I can take a look through them and see what he is telling you.

First point, would it be cheaper to do an RB26 into a 240, yes, but still not cheap. If you are going to make it RWD, you have to modify the oil pan from an RB25, then you can either use a 25 trans, or cut the transfer case, then weld a plate over the hole.

You'd be better off using an RB20/25 for that matter. It's even cheaper than the 26 into a 240.

I'll send you an e-mail in a day or two. Got lots going on today.

why do you want to do a RHD conversion? As a skyline owner its really nothing special and the novelty wears away quickly. Just adds to the build making it a useless cost IMO.

BTW the guy selling the $40K motorex car is legit but Im sure you can get him down in price.

A 32 ar $40k, meh depends on the mods to be honest. There was a R33 with a decent amount of mods that sold for $32k in GA a year ago, There's a R32 for $30k here in my town but to be honest it's not really worth that amount. In 4-5 years R32's will be 100% legal for import. At a price tag of $30k or more you are still going to be paying on a car that realistically in Japan only is a $10k at most and in 4-5 years will be near that price.
