So I received pics from my importer that is supposed to be a R33. I'm having trouble finding the light grey knock sensor plug that is on top of the Intake manifold that verifies it a r33. But it seems to have the r33 oil cap, non-hicas power steering pump, and that little fuel dampner under the intake manifold. I was wondering if you guys on here can confirm if it's a r33 or not.

Notice the non-hicas pump and the R33 style oil cap.

Rear shot

Notice the fuel damper with the red caps on it but wheres the light grey plug on top of the intake manifold? Maybe I'm blind?

Exhaust side, Non-hicas p/s i believe

So if there is anything that I'm missing to confirm it's a r33 please tell me. Thanks for the help.

I've enlarged the pics until they got blurry trying to find the tell tell gray plug ontop of the plenum where I know they are on the R33, but because of the way the whole harness is stacked ontop of the motor, you can't tell if its there...

The oil cap is something I wouldn't trust. To bad the fan is gone off the front of the motor.... my R32 had a different fan blade count than my R33 does. And the blades are different shape to....

Never the less, that motor looks great. The gold cadium coating is still fresh looking on all the parts that come plated. Everything else looks to be in good shape to, besides the black paint chipped off the plenum... thats a given on the 26...

It looks to be a low mileage motor. How much they asking? Who's selling it?

I think you're right, its too hard to tell if that grey plug is there or not due to the wiring harness. I guess the only way to tell is when I receive the motor, cross reference the serial number and check the crank collar. The engine does seem clean so maybe it's in good shape. As for the seller, his name is Racer98 on hybridz.org. I'm not going to disclose the price on the setup as I'm sure he'd like to tell you the price himself.

Is the AC compressor an R-12 or An R-134a compressor? They stoped making R-12 systems in 95. At least in the US. I think Japan would have been the same.

looks pretty fresh and stock. lower subharness and upper harness need to be connected together to see that plug i think. IMO, 80% chance that is a 33. reason is b/c the relays are blue (green on the 32 as far as i have seen), and b/c it has those long F3 looking white plugs that the 32 does not have. the 32 main harness to body connection is more like the s13 style, whereas 33 main harness to body is more like the s14 style. its kind of hard to explain but thats just from what i've seen...

thats a very bad way to try and judge

1) r12 was still used in other countries long after 95. 2) that engine was never sold here3) there were R33's before 1995

I agree. Judging by the non-hicas powersteering pump and the freshness of the gold cadmium plating, I would agree that you have an R33 there. And I know that the oil caps can be changed, but that also adds a little bit to the pot. Have you purchased this yet, or are you spectating the purchase of one?

I have already purchased the motor. It was being prepped in japan before shipment. So I still have a couple more weeks before it arrives on my door step. Ramius, once I swap the motor I will have a couple questions for you about using A/C. I know you have successfully wired A/C and all. I will also try to keep puller fans if possible. I was wondering how much space between a koyo rad and the crank pulley is there? I believe the Core mounts sit the motor a little bit further back towards the firewall than the mckinney mounts. Is this true fact or a rumor. I may do your fan setup because you havent seen any overheating problems.
