For starters the R33 gts is an RB20E soc car for grandma and grandpa! The V-Spec has an RB26DETT.... for the ojizoku in the family! The R33 GTR had three packages GTR, GTR V-spec and GTR Vspec N1. I know that the N1 had better pistons but other then that I dont know the difference in the GTRs.

The GTR N1 has an RB26DETT that has a stronger block, stronger pistons, and a stronger crank.

There is also a GTR V-spec II, which has a better suspension than the Vspec.

Also, the Skyline GTS-t's have the RB20DET (in the R32) or the RB25DET (in the R33 and R34).

The GTS has the same tailights. Just a different spoiler. And don't knock GTS's....I'm actually thinking about getting one, if I can find an unfortunate sole to sell my sentra too.

don't forget the V-spec comes with Brembo brakes that the standard R doesn't get. The GTS is a weaker non-turbo version of the GTS-T.

Does anyone know if a R33 GTS-T engine can be swapped out and a RB25DETT can be put in without mod? Thanks

There is no RB25DETT engine.

So you asking about the RB26DETT then?

I'm sure the RB25 can be swapped out pretty easy for the RB26, but why???

To gain 1/10th of a liter of displacement? Just turn up the boost on the RB25 :) They are both RB blocks....the 26 isn't any stronger. If you are going to be modifying it anyway, swapping out for a RB26 seems pointless to me.

The R32 GTS-T came with a RB20DETThe R33 GTS-T came with a RB25DETThe R34 GTS-T came with a RB25DET

The R32-34 GTR Came with a RB26DETT

the GTR Engine can't really be swapped with out using the GTS-T tranny, and it's not really worth it.

You may have been confused about everyone wanting to swap in a RB20 GTS-T engine, but that's from the R32m not the R33. The R33 already comes with the RB25.

It would be more worth your money to save a little while longer and get a R32 GTR, somes with all the goodies that the R33 comes with, it's just ALOT cheaper,

GT-R has approx 280hp

GT-R V spec has approx 330hp (un-official of course) also has some different internals. eg Pistons.

GT-R N1 stands for Nurburg (probably spelt wrong) but it had special suspension to make it go around the Nurburg Ring quicker!

You sure about that Chally? I'm about 99.9% positive that the Vspec and the base GT-R share identical engines. And I *KNOW* that the N1 engine has different internals. I think you've got the N1 and Vspec backwords. Vspec is better suspension, and N1 is better engine.

R33 GTR is the RB26DETT.

R33 GTS-T is the RB25DET.

Totally not worth the time nor money to swap for that tenth of a liter extra displacement.

well, why would you want 1 more turno and .1L of displacement for the fact that you can't convert your GTS-T to AWD, so it's still RWD, it's just NOT worth it,

LordCheese, you are right with the internals for the N1, but the suspension is also upgraded, according to my sources.

Yes the V Spec does have different internals as I had to rebuild an R33 V spec, & we would have lost some HP if I used standard internals. In fact, there are 3 different sets of internals for the R33 from Nissan here. Exactly what differences, I haven't studied, but I had to give the correct engine & chassis number to get the correct parts, & with those numbers, we were able to confirm that the car was a Genuine V Spec.

for some they cannot afford a GTR. man i want the R33 GTR Vspec but with what I make it will be a WHILE. i would even take a R32 GTS4 or a R33 turbo 2wd. A skyline is a skyline.

Nagata-San -- the REAL mad scientist.

I just came back from Tokyo, walked twenty klick to get to his shop. I didn't meet him but his staff were real nice. With all due respect, he is a stellar tuner but his stuff is kind of vanilla for my tastes. Straightfoward stuff executed with uncompromising persision to be sure but he lacks the sickness for it's own sake to take my title. Wing and Escort are on my plane of dimensia though, silly bastards.:D
