Post

Hi All,

I've had my skyline (NISMO #129) for about a year now, but finally am getting down to the business of nurturing it back to health. Work's been pretty busy, I'm in the military stationed in Okinawa, but it's going to slow down for me in the next couple months.

I believe the car's been through some hell, some kids just beat up on it and put underbody lights on it, as well as some shoddy electrical work. This is my 'rescue ride' of sorts. I'm looking to do a smooth and steady clean build. I'll admit to being new to this, so comments and critiques are welcome.

Anyway, from what I can tell these were some of the things done to it:
The original engine was replaced (dunno what they ended up doing to the original NISMO block, as that's a shame. Would have been a better collector vehicle had they kept it.)

From what I was able to find this: it looks like they put a N1-Nur in there. I'd appreciate independent confirmation on this as the only thread I could find about identifying it was this:

Other research I did made it seem that the blocks were numbered sequentially with numbers starting with '1' originating in 1990, and '7' blocks were made generally in the 2000s. I posted a pic of my engine plate below.

NISMO cars were originally gun metal grey, obviously this one was repainted (seemed like decent work, even got the inside of the engine and trunk. I guess white is a common color as it's the national racing color of Japan. Whomever owned this thing originally really went the full nine on it. I assume they went bankrupt along the way as the car made it's way into the hands of people with tighter and tighter budgets.

I mirrored my parts list of the Eric Hsu build on motoIQ:

It made sense to me. Hopefully I don't screw this up.

Overall my goal would be a 400whp daily driver. Now, with all the parts that are going in, a lot more power could be achieved, so we'll see. It's more important to me I have a reliable car than something that's going to be a dyno wonder.

Anyway, a newbie's thoughts. Welcome any advice. Thanks!

The car looks in sad shape, but you seem to be on the right track to fixing her up! I'm pcsing to Kadena in a few weeks here and already have my eye on a R32 to bring back home! Whats your AFSC? Either way, keep up the good work and keep the thread updated!

So, apparently Nismo N1's were in white and the regular Nismo's were in Gunmetal...

Good to know.

Most N1's are white. However, you could actually order it in any color. Most of the time it was white.

A Nismo R32 is gunmetal from the factory. However, like any car, someone can paint it.
