hey whats up? you might of seen my last thread about a r32 sedan but i just thought of something else.

first off a car can be brought into the usa for show/display purpose as long as you only drive it 2500 miles or less correct?? because if so the hell with street legalizing a skyline, since it would only be a summertime weekend car 2500 miles is more than enough. so i was thinking i could import a r32 sedan for real cheap from japan , probly 5k or less??

that would be awsome but problem is a rb20 is just to small a engine imo expessially being a i-6 in a sedan. so that bringsa me to this. would a rb25det or rb26det swap into a r32 sedan pretty easily since its the same chassis???

With show/display, the car has to have a reason to be shown or displayed, i.e. historical significance, technological advances, etc.

really , i never heard it like that. that wouldnt aply to anyone really.

i heard you can import a car and register it without legalizing it just as long as you register it as a show car, simply meaning it wouldnt be driven more than 2500 miles a year.

besides im pretty sure a 4 door gtr powered r32 sedan would be a car people would like to see. therefor it would be a showcar and id be glad to take it around to show it.

I gave you the link in your last thread, read it.Show/Display rules

You should pay attention closely to this ruleQuote »4. Whether more than 500 of the vehicles were produced.
Quote »If the answer to item 4 is affirmative, the applicant must establish that the vehicle is of exceptional technological and/or historical significance.
NHTSA's import rules

well i think if i approched it the right way it might be approved.

for one thing im not sure there are any sedan r chassis skylines in the usa, so that right there makes its special, also the i would let it be known the engine of a gtr is going into it. whitch in itself is historical, do to the gtrs history in motor sports. also the simple fact that its a r chassis skyline that even rarer than the others would make it even more of a public interest.

i think the overall project at the end resulting in a gtr powered 4 door r chassis skyline would have a good shot being approved as a show/display vehicle. mabey not but if not i dont know what a show/display vehicle is, lol.

Apparently, you don't. Maybe if you were importing a Prince ALSI Skyline or the new Z-Tune, but a 15 year old sedan with pretty much standard brakes, steering, suspension, body charecteristics, etc. does not a display car make.

apperently i dont what?? nothing i siad there can be replyed to with, "apperently you dont."

besides, i understand the formal rules intended for a show/display car. but i honestly dont believe it has to be anything that rare, as it states it has to be of puplic interest first and formost and i believe if you can show it has public interest they will approve it regardless of the other rules.

i promise you there are show/display cars in the usa that more than 500 were made or is itself a historical landmark. how do you think companies have s15's,and ect..?? i bet they are registered as show/display vehicles.

I bet they are track only and not registered for use on the highways...which is what you are looking for. I can get ANY car here right now as long as I dont intend to use it on the public roads its fine.

And he was referring to the statement..."mabey not but if not i dont know what a show/display vehicle is, lol."

To which he responded..."Apparently, you don't."
