Ok, so my buddy got a blacktop Rb20 in a clip the other day.. we got it all taken apart, the x-member out of the clip and into the 240, and we got the motor all lined up, but for the life of us we can't get it to rest on the motor mounts properly.. do you guys have a magic trick for making them sit correctly? do i have to mash the transmission tunnel at all? any ideas would rock, thanks. (yes i searched, i just can't find much.. some say maybe but that's about it).

also, what is the difference between the blacktop and silvertop? we've got a silvertop motorset in the warehouse too but that one's mine! hehe

you should have bolted the motor to the crossmember when it was out of the car and then add the motor from the bottom up into the car.

this way is MUCH easier. if you have a lift its the best way to go. if you dont u can still put the car on jackstands and then slide the motor/crossmember up and jack it up until it aligns then put the nuts on.

yeah the firewall tunnel for the 240 is smaller than a skyline so thats why u are having difficulites dropping in the motor from top.

Ive dropped my engine in three times with the transmission bolted on no problem. seperate the motor mounts(there is a part that bolts to the motor and a part the bolts to the xmember) and make them loose so you can move them around, then have someone tip them inward and you lower the engine into place. BAM there you go.
