What do you guys think?

My car 93 R32 GTR List of mods, HKS 3 inch cat back exhaust, HKS intakes, HKS boost controller, (will be running 1.0 bar or 12psi to match the sti's stock 1.0 bar or 12psi setting)HKS turbo timer,

My younger brothers car 05 STI List of mods HKS 3 inch cat back,

Were waiting for summer to run your cars against each other at the track for the first time. My bros on a WRX/STI forum and asked the same question, some say GTR, some Say STI. What do you guys think? I think it will be close maybe even a drives race. How many other R32 owners have run against a STI at there local track?

Well between the 2 of you its probably a matter of skill. I know stock for stock a late model stil will have no problem beating an R32 GTR around the track. make sure if you track it get an oil cooler.

edit- you mean drag strip or road course?

Sti most likely. btw 1.0 bar usually equals 14psi. Tires and launch skill will be a big factor.

I redid the conversion and I was wrong, 1.0 bar is 14psi. Thanks for the correction.

Also us local guys run our cars in an abandon mining town 40Mins away pavement everywhere we have 1/4mile and a road course.

I don't know about the track but I could run down STIs with a measly GTS-T so the R should smoke it for pure speed and accelerattion. Throw some corners in though and it is a good question.

It's gonna be a close one, but I would say that most likely your brother is going to roast you on a road course, and I base this only on the following.

If I understood your other post in another thread correctly, you haven't had the car very long. Now, when you go from a lightweight RWD platform like the S chasis, to a much heavier AWD car, handeling characteristics change drastically.

Your brother has had his STi for a while, so he knows the cars "personality" very well.

Now, unless you throw caution to the wind and beat the piss outta your car you're gonna be a bit hesitant on seeing what it's totally capable of doing. GT-R's are expensive to own and maintain over here, so I can't see it being any cheaper there.

Also, as stated. If you race on a circuit, get a cooler for the oil.

And, be carefull running your turbos that high for sustained lengths of time. Short bursts are ok, but if on a track, turn it down a bit.

Yeah I just got my car In December, right in the middle of a Canadian winter. All I did was drive my car from Calgary Alberta Home, about a 13 hour drive and parked it. And doing that same drive in my old s14 many times before, I could tell a big difference in the two cars right away. I would imagine it's doing to take all summer to fully adjust to to the GTR and the awd platform maybe longer, and Im not the kind of guy to go out and beat the piss out of my car my s14 lasted me 9 years because of the love I showed that car. And I plan on treating my GTR with same respect and love. Because parts are just as pricey here in Canada. And I don't want to admit it but I know my brothers going to have the upper hand all summer until I get used to my car, then we will see. Thanks for the advice on the oil cooler, I already was looking in to a new clutch setup to install in the off season but never really thought of an oil cool going to research good oil coolers for the GTR .any advice on good cooler would be great.

And gold Digger what do think about 1/4 mile run say after a full summer to figure out my car and good clutch upgrade for the GTR?

Not sure about 1/4 times. I would guess on a stock setup, possibly low 14's high 13's. I honestly have no clue. My Eclipse GSX did a 14.7 with just a boost controller, cat-back and bad clutch. Now, take into consideration, that, while severly underpowered, power to weight ratio is in the Eclipse's favor. But, like I said, I really have no clue.

As for oil coolers, not sure. I am looking into that myself come Summer. We've had a pretty mild Winter this year, and I have a feeling that Summer is going to be brutally hot, and if I plan on doing any spirited driving around some of the mountains here, I want that extra security of a cooler.

As for clutches.

ORC (Orgura Racing Clutch) has a pretty good reputation if you got the coin.

I know the BCNR33 clutches are a bit more expensive, though, due to the pull type release bearing instead of a push type as most cars have. PFFFT.

Never seen one sexier than the ARC kit. Well except for the FC3S cooler between the headlights of my Silvia.
