Guys, I really want to use the r32 cluster in my s13 with an RB25 swapped in. I understand that the r32 speedo is cable driven while the RB25 VSS is electrical. I also understand that it's common to use the KA cluster and swap in the R32 tach. My question is this: If it's possible to swap the R32 tach into the KA cluster, can't I also swap the KA speedo into the R32 cluster to avoid the necessity of having a cable-driven speedo? Has anyone already done this? Is it even possible given the way the wiring is laid out on the back of the R32 cluster?

BTW, I searched first like a good little boy

A good starting point would be to look at the S13 cluster fom the back and then look at the R32 cluster from the back. I saw one for sale on ebay that had a descent pick of the back. To answer you question, anything can be done, but from the pictures I have seen, it looks like you will be cutting out some plastic to make it fit.

You can always be the first to do it.

Dumb question but bear with me....The R32 cluster I bought off of ebay was damaged in shipping and the tach needle appears to be broken. From the looks of things, it appears as though i should be able to swap over the needle from the speedo since I really only want to use the tach out of the cluster but I can't figure out how to get the needle off without breaking it. Does anyone know how to do this? Is there some trick I'm missing?

Thanks in advance.

the needle is actually connected to a small metal shaft that goes into the gauge. You have to turn it back a little bit and then pull the it out. You will then need a needle with the same size shaft connected to it. You insert it the same way as you removed it.

Hope that helps you out.

There is a process to removing the needle from Nissan Gauge Clusters. This is from my knowledge of installing Import Intelligence needle kits and gauge faces.

1. Remove the gauge cluster and the gauge cluster clear face. 2. Remove the actual black plastic gauge trim piece surrounding the gauges.3. Remove the needle rest on the gauge that is being worked on.4. Now, rotate the needle carefully clockwise until you feel a strong amount of tension (basically, the needle will want to stop at this point). Mark this point on the actual gauge face with a pencil.5. Keep turning the needle clockwise another 3-4 times. Upon turning the needle atleast 3 revolutions, carefully begin to lift up on the actual needle base while TURNING the needle AT THE SAME TIME CLOCKWISE. 6. The needle should then start to lift up with some ease and wah-la, you are done.7. Now, reinstall the needle stop.8. When installing the needle back in, simply align the needle on that needle alignment point you marked on the gauge face and carefully push the needle back into the gauge at that point. 9. Turn the needle counterclockwise back to the needle rest.

These are the general directions that I REMEMBER, based on MEMORY. So please, if oyu mess up, don't come back to me. This is based entirely on you and I take no repsonsibility. What would be of your best interest is to CALL IMPORT INTELLIGENCE and ask them to email or fax you the directions for a Nissan install (generally the 240sx/Maxima install). http://www.importintelligence.com .

Good luck.
