Hello to all!

I just picked up a 1991 R32 and from the sound of the squeaks, i need to throw on some new pads and maybe rotors as well. My GTR is about 97% stock so i will not be upgrading to any big/alternate brake setups at the moment. I'm looking for advice on what pads are good for a stock replacement. I've used Hawk on other cars in the past with decent success. Any word on the Hawk HP+ vs the Endless SS-Y? I would assume that the Endless produce less dust than the Hawks...

Also, is it accurate that pads that fit the Z32 will work for a stock braked GT-32R?

Many Thanks,
KRM

I've never ran Endless pads so I can't comment on that. However, I have used Hawk HP (old metalic version) pads, and they are great in *most* conditions. The only thing I do not like about them is in cold weather, I get caught off guard a lot in the morning when my brakes don't seem to stop me for the first couple of seconds after mashing the pedal to build up heat into the pads. After that, they work as normal. My next set will definitely be the ceramic blend variant of the Hawk pads to prevent having the cold pad syndrome associated with high metalic content pads. My set is pretty old and kick up a little dust, but not much to me. As for cross referencing on the brakes for an R32 GTR, all parts should cross over to a Z32 TT minus the front rotors. The front rotors on a GTR are a tad larger in the diameter and thickness and are car specific as far as I can tell.

Hawk HPS worked for me in the past. Decent cold. Good street pad. For the track, I use a different pad usually a PFC, but it all depends on how much I like the rotors.

Do a good bleed on the brakes. Replace the lines.

Or you can just do this...

ItzGenX: I am in South Florida, so the cold weather issue should not be an "issue" with the Hawks. I will probably end up going with the Hawks or the Stillen Metal Matrix.

tyndago: When you say "Replace the lines", do you mean with SS lines, just as an upgrade or is there some particular issue with the stockers at this age? The Goodridge lines look decent, i may consider them.

Also, i usually like to swap out my stock bleeders for Speed Bleeders. Anyone know off-hand if the SB1010 bleeders will fit the R32? They fit my old '89 240 and the 300ZX so i would guess that they would be the same size.

Thanks for the responses guys,
K

If the speed bleeders fit on the Z32TT calipers, it should fit on the R32 calipers since they are same calipers.

I would have to look up the older cars, but the R35 GT-R service says replace the rubber lines at 60k miles.

If you are working on the brakes, its good preventive maintenance. If I were in the front of an R32 GT-R, I would also have a good look at the front wheel bearings. They don't last forever, and have a tendency to knock the pads back once they get excessive play.

I have Alcon Brakes in my R32. I'm not sure if they are the best option, but after about a year i am preaty happy with them. I don't track at all, so i don't know how do they work on trakcs, u should ask someone more experineced. I bought my here: Nissan Skyline brakes , but there are many other destinations over the net. I am from EU, so shiping was not so expensive.
