I offer sincere appologies if I am posting this in the wrong place, but bear with me a moment. I have been led to believe that the US market Infiniti M30 shares a large portion of its underpinnings with the R31 Skyline (and Leopard). I'm wondering if anyone knows what sort of suspension interchange is available between the two platforms. I'm stuck here in No Skyline Hell (just below the Seventh circle, outside Green Hell) and would like to build something awesome using Nissan bits. While a motor swap would be relatively easy, in planning this project, suspension bits seem to be the hard part. Since I don't want to have a great wallowing turd that's fast in a straight line (been there, etc.) Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The M30 IS the Leopard. Anything for one will fit the other. I have been told by a religious R31 guy that the RB is an easy swap. The fact that the Z31 can be had with the VG and the RB suggests this is so.

RB should fit ok since they came in the R31 and the compartment dimensions are the same.

As far as brakes, Z32 or late Z31 turbo brakes should fit as well as give you 5 lug goodness up front.

For the rear, you might have more trouble but many people have fitted a 5 lug conversion of sorts using other infiniti parts available.

The stock VG30ET turbo manifolds won't allow you to fit the turbo since they will locate it where your rack is and laying down the rack as in the Z31 just won't work well since the firewall distance to rack is a bit shorter on the M30.

Also......the M30 has a front sump VG30 engine and the Z31 has a rear sump engine.

I wanted turbo but had zero money so I fitted the L28et to the car and it was damn easy compared to most swaps of this nature.

I had to swap modify mounts to lower engine and move it back as well as modify transmission mounts and fit a first generation maxima L24 oil pan and modify the pickup though you can use the 810 pan as well.

It went in so easily, I could use the stock L28et downpipe and just moved the harness to behind the abs unit rather than in front of it and did some cutting and modifying.

With the M30 ecu I used dropping resistors on stock 280zx 260cc injectors and.......surprise.......it runs like a dream.

Car is now my daily drive with a built 3n71b with a high stall speed convertor.

Details and pics of build are here.

Yes, the engine compartment of the m30 is identical to the R31 skyline other than which side the driver sits and steering gear and such.

Fitting the RB drivetrain would go pretty easy with crossmember, mounts, and transmission mounts.

Here's the L28 as installed in a M30 and below is a stock R31 with RB20 engine bay for comparison.
