Howdy ya'll,

Finally got my catback installed after searching for a deal for a long long time :bigthumb: My understanding based on everything I've read, however, is that the m45 (2007) does not respond well to both mods simultaneously without a tune.

I replaced the intake to stock the other day (so only the catback on currently). I ran the car as usual for about 300 miles and with a few light pulls here and there. Today, I ran it much harder and I feel as though I've lost power compared to when I had both the intake and exhaust together. I'm not sure if it's placebo affect, maybe the louder noise coming from the engine made it feel as though as I was going faster, but I wanted to see what all ya'll had to say on the subject (I guess I'm in denial). I know, I know this subject has been beat to death but a lot of the threads I've read are much older and I believe a few of them even refer to cold air intakes. Anyone running intake + exhaust with no tune?

Uprev tune will come when I can save up a bit of $$$ btw

It shouldn't hurt the car or anything but you definitely aren't getting optimal performance since you changed the AFR.

Are there any examples of proof that these R2C systems work?

Because these cars have factory cold air intake. And this suggests the R2C makes no difference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCZ_6SfiIao

The good old butt dyno showed a noticeable difference with the intake on only vs stock everything. Not a monstrous gain but a definite bump.

Actual cold air intakes can make performance worse (ones that run the air filter outside of the engine bay). I don't have experience with those but I know Injen makes one for our cars.

And honestly, even if the R2C makes no difference, the growl from the motor is worth the addition for me at least. Going to do smog and then throw my R2C intake back on. I miss the sound.

Yes, by definition a cold air intake needs to pull air from outside the engine bay (like the factory intake does), if it is pulling air from inside the engine bay then it is a warm air intake. But I believe a lot of these have a surround guard to shield the actual intake from the engine don't they? The one on this page looks like it has a heat shield. http://www.r2cperformance.com/infiniti- ... ntake.aspx

But, sound is a very important part of enjoying a car. :) I just brought my car a week ago (thursday before easter) and have the exhaust done a couple of days ago, it sounds much more V8 like now
