I was thinking of getting the r230v but wasn't sure how bad it would hurt the acceleration. I heard it was better for turbo cars and now that i have the greddy kit it might be a good idea. Any ideas? How about in 1st gear, would i have any trouble starting off uphill? Thanks

I think the main problem is that the r230v is physically different than the r200 (the pumpkin itself). You'd be better off getting an r200 and switching ratio from either an s15 or other vehicles. Truthfully i don't think you'll have enough power to worry about top speed.

yes, i just did that swap this past weekend. Couldn't really do a burnout though...wimpy car+auto+longer final drive = difficulty laying rubber. May need a drive shaft from a 240 with ABS if you dont already have it (ABS).

Thanks, I wish i could get a 3.7 ratio dif. Courtesy nissan stopped selling it for the 240sx. They do have one for the 84-89 300zx, I wonder if that would fit....

I think a 3.7 would kill your acceleration pretty bad if I'm not mistaken. I found that mine is noticably slower off the line than with the ?4.08?

Get a Q45 differential if you want a low final drive.

Honestly you will always be quicker with the 4.08.

Back from the deadly because I can't find a solution to this question anywhere.

No, but nobody has confirmed how much work it would take to fit. It's a 10mm pinion bolt and is probably a lot longer after looking at the two diffs. They are both still R200 diffs, so I'm thinking that a machine shop may be able to do something about it though as long as the ring and pinions aren't too different. I'm looking into this as an option.

The $634 price tag is making me hesitant.

What final drive is the Q? 3.538? from 90-96? If so, that IS by far the easiest and most affordable route.
